About the Role:

You will be working on the API team, the group within Rhapsody International responsible for the creation, delivery and support of the Rhapsody Developer API used by both our internal application teams and hundreds of music partners worldwide to provide authentication, user profile, ecommerce, and music data services. We make music happen. In addition to this you will be assisting in the development and creation of our new tool portal consumed by partners and labels.


As our new Software Development Engineer, you'll be working on the development of major areas of functionality. You hold yourself to high standards and strive to bring out the best:

  • Develop new features for our 24x7 Node.js API services and batch processing applications, including writing/updating existing modules, frameworks and services. Extend and maintain the existing API and supporting in house integrations such as Amazon Alexa. (Node.js/Redis)

  • Maintain and enhance our developer portal and documentation to ease third party integrations (Ruby on Rails)

  • Develop and enhance our partner tool system (React.js/Node.js/Redis)

  • Work with the QA and PGM team to facilitate quality requirements and efficient debugging processes.

  • Troubleshooting, load testing, and support of production API.

  • Translating designs and wireframes into high quality code.

  • Build reusable and scalable code

Must Haves

  • 2+ years of experience as a Full-Stack Software Developer working in Node.js

  • Working knowledge of technologies such as REST, JSONAPI, oAuth 2.0, SQL, and Redis

  • Familiarity with React.js or work experience with a similar Library or Framework

  • Comfortability working on all areas of the applications and areas that the team owns. One day you may be knee deep in database queries, while the next you will be creating a new interface in our React.js app.

  • Experience with key/value stores and/or NoSQL database solutions.

  • Hands-on experience writing automated tests using RSpec, Cucumber, Mocha, Chai, and/or Phantom.js

Bonus point if you have experience with:

  • Experience in React.js and Ruby on Rails

  • Experience with key/value stores such as Redis

  • Experience with cloud systems

  • Deep knowledge of API caching technologies

  • Knowledge of any user data management, e-commerce system, and Content Management System is highly desirable
