An ambitious Data Business Stream has been created to transform how Arup works and benefits from Data, which is highlighting significant opportunities for data-driven products and capabilities across multiple strategic business areas including, but not limited to, Property, Aviation, Infrastructure, Water and Geotechnics. You will work with teams of Consultants, Developers, Data Scientists and Designers, in a creative and supportive environment, enabling team members to fulfil their professional and creative interests.
We are looking for a Full Stack Software Developer with a wide range of knowledge and experience of producing software solutions within a dynamic environment across the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, an excellent problem solver, and a fast-self-learner able to adapt to new technologies and platforms. The candidate should have experience of working within an agile development environment and be comfortable with working to deadlines and budget constraints.
Development of innovative software solutions to support commercial projects
Work with internal technical and domain experts to design and implement software solutions
Develop and support legacy projects and tools
Support and mentor junior developers
Work with project teams to understand requirements and design solutions, identify new opportunities, and support project delivery
Produce costed bids and proposals for new work and work closely with clients and project teams to develop opportunities
Provide input on technical reports and systems design specifications for a wide range of projects
Presentation and documentation of solutions to non-technical audiences
Requirements and Skills
Has a keen interest in the use of digital technologies and their application within the built environment
Has the ability to solve complex problems, and the ability to learn and adopt new methods and technologies as required by project demands
Able to communicate complex technical ideas to a non-technical audience

Essential Skills and Qualification:
A minimum of a Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience, in computer science or other numerate discipline
2 or more years development experience in a commercial environment
Strong familiarity with relevant frameworks, especially Angular 8
Strong in Java and/or Python
Strong in object-oriented design principles
Use of 3rd party APIs, Frameworks and development kits
Development and support of relational databases (SQL) and/or NoSQL technologies
Agile Development methodologies
Use of software build tools and Git for source code management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to genuinely think and work across the full stack
Experience of visualization techniques and libraries, e.g. D3.js
Experience in DevOps processes such as docker for continuous integration
Experience and knowledge in GIS, Spatial and 3D Data
