Purpose of the role

Working directly for the Head of Development and Executive Creative Director within an expanding team, this role works alongside other digital creatives and developers to devise visually arresting and engaging websites, mobile applications and e-campaigns. Campaigns that will surprise and delight users, exploiting cutting edge development techniques and methods.

You will live and breathe development and will be able to demonstrate your ability to not only create complex solutions, but also understand how to architect development solutions that uphold the initial vision and delivers business benefit.

Main responsibilities

  • Considers website development beyond the brief, and extends it to include commercial aspects and business value considerations

  • Works closely with the Technical Director, Executive Creative Director, Head of Development and the agency's development team to maintain and evolve the development standards of the agency

  • Works as part of a New Business pitch team to sell the capabilities of the development function

  • Develops designs to an excellent creative standard, collaborating with other delivery functions

  • Use various software's on a daily basis including WordPress, PHP, HTML/CSS3/SASS, Vanilla JS and frameworks e.g. vue.js

  • Develops and progresses opportunities to diversify the development product portfolio, highlighting opportunities to expand the agency capability set

  • Demonstrates high levels of attention to detail and standards of accuracy in all code deliverables

  • Shows a clear understanding, adoption and development of latest techniques and languages and offers exploratory solutions to development requirements

  • Develops a good ideology for managing maintainable, scalable solutions and blueprint products (re-usable assets)

  • Encourages and inspires excellence in both the development and design teams

  • Records and shares lessons learned with team members to facilitate continuous improvement

  • Ensures development architecture is always current and repositories are set up and maintained correctly

About you

You will be an engaging and forward-thinking Full Stack Developer with a user centred approach to creating brilliant design experiences. You must have HTML/CSS3/SASS practices that support responsive design, progressive enhancement, SEO best practices, W3C and accessibility standards across both desktop and mobile web.

Additional requirements

  • 5+ years development experience

  • Understanding of back-end programming concepts and PHP

  • Extensive experience developing in WordPress

  • Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)

  • Plug in usages

  • Multi-Site implementation

  • End-to-End Theme Development

  • Demonstrates API and third-party integrations

  • MySQL Development

  • WordPress DevOps Experience

  • Advanced experience with an MV* framework preferably vue.js

  • Strong vanilla JS skills and experience with ES6 and jQuery

  • Experience using Sketch or AdobeXD in collaboration with UX/UI design

  • Positive communication, strong work ethic, ambition and drive.
