Unissant is seeking a Full Stack Developer to maintain and extend an existing enterprise JEE application supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. This is a highly technical position; individuals will be screened by peers in a technical review of skills and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement JEE software applications.

  • Use modern software engineering tools and methodologies including Eclipse, and Atlassian Products (Jira, Confluence)

  • Work with users in an Agile development approach to understand requirements, then elicit feedback and refine solution through demonstrations.

  • Present the solution at formal and informal design reviews and document the design according to the Government's system lifecycle methodology.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience with the following requirements

  • Java/J2EE

  • Must have J2EE experience.

  • WebSphere Application Server is ideal.

  • willing to accept Spring Framework experience or equivalent app server technology such as WebLogic.

  • Database/SQL (ORM/JPA/JDBC)

  • Must have ability to understand and create SQL queries.

  • Either Hibernate or JPA knowledge is ideal.

  • UI/HTML (HTML, JavaScript, CSS)

  • Must have some fundamental understanding of HTML and JS

  • Having JSP/STRUTS specific knowledge is ideal.

  • Having JQUERY knowledge is a bonus.

  • Strong Java J2EE/JEE design and software development experience including designing, programming, and documenting large-scale software systems preferred

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Design Patterns and Data Structures

  • Experience maintaining existing JEE applications deployed in WebSphere Application Server environment or related JEE server

  • Experience with RDBMS/SQL (Oracle/Postgres)

  • Front End Experience with: HTML, JavaScript, CSS.

  • Experience with different data formats (XML, JSON, YAML)

  • Experience with developing and using scripting (SQL, Java, Unix/Linux)

  • Experience using CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Maven, Git)

  • Understanding of message Queues and Topics (MQ, Kafka)

Job Skills:

  • Knowledge of Java/Springboot/Microservices preferred

  • Knowledge of Angular preferred

  • Ability to multitask efficiently and progressively and work comfortably in an ever-changing data environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with applicable experience is required. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certification, Licenses and Registrations:

  • This federal program requires the candidates to be a United States Citizen

  • Must have a current CBP BI clearance or be eligible to obtain one.

Communication Skills:

  • Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.

  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.

  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.

  • Must work well in a matrixed team environment.

Travel:

  • This is an onsite position in Ashburn, VA for at least 2 to 3 days in a week

Environmental Requirements:

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment

  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds

  • Flexible in working extended hours.
