JOB SUMMARY

Are you passionate about creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive environment for children of all abilities? Do you have experience leading teams and working with children who have cognitive disabilities? Join our team at Full Circle Summer Day Camp as a Camp Lead Staff, where you'll play a crucial role in mentoring staff, guiding campers, and ensuring an unforgettable summer experience for all. Full Circle Summer Camp serves children aged 7-15 with neurodivergent disabilities, including Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorders, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, developmental delays, and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Director of Access and Belonging in planning, implementing, and supervising daily camp activities.

  • Lead and support camp counselors, ensuring they are equipped to engage with campers effectively and uphold camp policies.

  • Act as a role model by demonstrating leadership, character values, and relationship-building skills in all interactions with children, staff, and families.

  • Maintain direct supervision of campers, ensuring safety and engagement in all activities, including indoor and outdoor play, field trips, sports, crafts, and social skill-building exercises.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive camp culture where all children feel safe, valued, and respected.

  • Serve as a point person for behavior management, using positive discipline techniques and implementing individualized support strategies when needed.

  • Effectively communicate with parents/guardians, updating them on their child's progress and addressing concerns in a professional and supportive manner.

  • Ensure that all camp spaces, equipment, and supplies are maintained, organized, and used appropriately.

  • Assist with administrative duties such as camper records, medication distribution, and incident reporting to ensure compliance with safety protocols.

  • Adhere to and enforce all camp policies and safety guidelines, including:

  • Maintaining proper staff-to-child ratios at all times.

  • Monitoring high-risk areas such as bathrooms, transition spaces, and outdoor play areas.

  • Following child protection and abuse prevention protocols.

  • Ensuring that campers are properly checked in and out each day.

  • Assist in training and mentoring new staff members to ensure high-quality programming and consistency in camp expectations.

  • Attend and contribute to all staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions as required.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND TRAINING

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with children, preferably in a camp, recreation, or educational setting.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities is strongly preferred.
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to support and mentor staff.
  • Ability to plan and adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of campers.
  • Must be energetic, patient, and comfortable leading both large and small groups.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification prior to the start of camp.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be physically able to actively participate in camp activities, including:

  • Lifting up to 75 lbs.

  • Engaging in sports, active games, and outdoor recreation.

  • Moving furniture, setting up program areas, and managing equipment.

  • Ability to stay on your feet for extended periods and maintain high energy levels throughout the day.

  • Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions, as outdoor activities are a key component of camp.
