Fuel Truck Operator

Team member is responsible for ensuring the company's assets have needed fuel and lube.

Core Duties:

  • Lead by example

  • Control the hazards you and your team members are subjected to by correcting hazards as soon as they are present

  • Communicate with superintendent on jobsite before leaving, they need to know the status and a reasonable time frame of when the equipment will be available again

  • Participate in the weekly hazard briefing (if possible) sharing pertinent information

  • Complete time sheet with accurate info from the day's activity

  • Inspect and inventory parts and supplies upon delivery

  • Inspect equipment and hand tools; have deficient items repaired/replaced

  • Ensure all rigging for lifting is within capacity, Blocking is to be stable and solid

  • Take all necessary actions to repair the root cause of the failure

  • Must be able to drive diesel fuel and service equipment throughout different job locations in a timely and safe manner

  • Monitor maintenance of vehicle; coordinating repairs and routine maintenance when needed

  • Load service truck with fuel, oil, DEF, and other products

  • Maintain all required DOT paperwork

  • Keep proper record of amount of fuel put in and out of trucks

  • Complete all paperwork and record in an accurate and timely manner

  • Control, mitigation, and clean up of any fuel and/or oil spills

  • Have knowledge and understanding of Hazmat, EPS, OSHA regulations

  • Must be able to pull a 2" diameter fuel hose for distances of 30 feet

  • Must be able to frequently enter and exit fuel truck

  • Must be able to complete task that may require bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, crawling, and balancing

  • Keep equipment, trucks and trailers clean, neat, and orderly

  • Professionalism is a badge that is yours to hold and yours to lose. When you leave the work area, leave no trash, old parts, rags, packaging, etc

  • Communicate time away from work with your team leader and other team members with sufficient notice to make plans for changing personnel to focus on the priorities

  • Willingness to work hours as required

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred

  • Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with jobsite supervisors and fellow team members

  • Must be able to effectively use all required PPE and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts and working in awkward body positions.

Education/Training/Certification:

  • Class B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements

  • OSHA Training

  • Technical Training

  • Forklift Certification

  • MSHA Training

  • First Aid/CPR
