Position Summary:

Manage all aspects of Fuel Center which includes the responsibility and accountability for maximizing sales, enhancing margin, controlling expenses compliance documentation and reducing shrink within the section. Role model and demonstrate the Company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of self and others.

Fred Meyer also requires that all associates perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service

  • Pump gas

  • Respond to customer requests and verbal customer comments/complaints

  • Maintain compliance with all corporate and divisional merchandising and operational standards and requirements, including recovery, fixture usage/maintenance, signing, ticketing/tagging, and safety

  • Communicate current market trends and competitor's activities to department associates

  • Order merchandise and supplies for the department and control department inventory levels

  • Write the department's daily tour

  • Maintain department facilities, including housekeeping standards and maintenance repair needs

  • Monitor and take appropriate action on the department's daily sales

  • Take appropriate action on scan audits

  • Assist in the inventory process

  • Write Intersection Transfers

  • Maintain compliance with shrink control guidelines related to inventory, pricing, theft, merchandising and paperwork

  • Process mail

  • Maintain compliance with corporate policies, safety guidelines, and standards

  • Promote and follow Company initiatives

  • Monitor customer service skills of Kiosk Clerks and provide guidance as needed

  • Verify kiosk sanitation standards are met

  • Verify safety standards are being met and safety equipment is available and in working order

  • Communicate with Director of Fuel regarding changing market conditions

  • Clean up spills and complete Fuel Spill Report

  • Perform cashier functions, including opening/closing register, ringing sales, completing tender transactions, making money drops

  • Maintain adequate checkstand supplies and cleanliness

  • Answer telephones

  • Monitor customer and associate safety

  • Train new fuel center associates

  • Maintain knowledge of emergency phone numbers and procedures

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus a minimum of six months Fred Meyer experience and one-two years related retail experience; or combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Minimum 18 years of age/19 years in Alaska

  • Ability to pass drug test

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work weekends on a regular basis and overtime as needed

  • Accuracy/attention to detail

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure

Overview Job Summary Assist management with the operations of the store by performing clerk duties in the designated department (grocery or freight), leading by example, and assisting the department manager in general department operations as directed. Answer customer questions and complaints in a professional manner and assure all customers receive fast, friendly service. Perform the duties of a grocery clerk, cashier and/or freight stocker in addition to assisting assigned employees in the performance of their tasks as appropriate, including notifying them of their breaks and lunches. Performs other related work. Typical Duties and Responsibilities * Seeks opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers. Maintains and encourages an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis of taking care of the customer. * Provides customer service by performing the duties of a clerk in the designated department (grocery or freight). Refer to Grocery Clerk, Cashier/Checker and/or Freight Stocker job descriptions for complete list of responsibilities. * Performs a lead role in customer service which may include handling customer complaints and requests, approving checks, selling gift certificates, issuing refunds, receiving returned check payments and answering any questions the customer must have. * Continuously monitors area activities, including customer traffic flow, coverage of checkout lanes, etc. * Maintains cleanliness and eye-appeal of work area, storage area, equipment and retail displays according to company policy and legal regulations; and cleans work area by mopping, sweeping, taking out garbage, etc. * Ensures the department/area of responsibility is kept clear of excess carts, baskets, garbage, etc. * Monitors arrivals, breaks, lunches and departures of employees in area of responsibility.
