Job Summary

Purpose Statement: San Domenico School, a K-12 independent school in San Anselmo, seeks a dynamic professional to serve as the Upper School Health Educator for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Health Educator will teach 9th and 10th grade Human Development classes and bring their expertise in curriculum development to help design a robust, dynamic, and engaging program that is current with the best practices and initiatives in independent education. Key Responsibilities of the Upper School Health Educator: Develop, implement, and teach the health and wellness curriculum for 9th and 10th-grade Human Development classes, as well as periodic 11th and 12th-grade "Life Skills" workshops.

Coordinate parent/guardian education programming with other school-level counselors and the Dean of Students. Coordinate with occasional outside providers to set up appropriate seminars and programs for grades 9-12. Develop and direct programming for the Residential Life Program in collaboration with the Director of Residential Life and the Dean of Students.

Work with the Dean of Students and the Marketing and Communications team to build a health and wellness platform and communication protocol. Support and collaborate with the Assistant Head of School for DEIB and Dean of Students to elevate and support Affinity Groups and safe spaces on campus.

The Successful Candidate will possess: Experience with, and enthusiasm for, working with adolescents.

The ability to communicate effectively with both adolescents and adults. An understanding of the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion and their manifestation in independent schools. A high degree of cultural competence.

An ability to exercise sound judgment and take initiative. Three or more years of high school classroom teaching experience. Knowledge of and experience implementing various social-emotional and relationship-based, trauma-informed school-based programs.

Experience coordinating and conducting seminars for parents/guardians about relevant adolescent development and social-emotional topics. A BA or BS in Counseling Psychology, Public Health, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; an MA/MS is preferred.

Comments and Other Information

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $68,800 to $135,000 annually, commensurate with skill set and experience.
