Full-time Tenure Track Faculty

Requirements:
BHCC seeks full-time faculty who demonstrate a passion for teaching and a desire to join faculty and staff to expand and create new strategies for student success. Faculty must be experienced in teaching in learning communities or willing to become proficient in learning community pedagogy and practice once hired, as well as adept in the assessment of learning outcomes and the use of technology in the classroom. Candidates should be passionate educators who can facilitate the needs of diverse 21st century learners. Additionally, BHCC seeks faculty who value advising students and wish to contribute fully to the life of the College. Faculty may be assigned courses at one or more of the College's locations. Applicants must have proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population

Position Description: Full time Computer Science instructor in the Computer Science Department (CS). Responsible for curriculum development and teaching Computer Science courses.

Specific Duties:

  • Teach Computer Science courses such as Introduction to Computer Science, C++ Programming, Python Programming, SQL Programming, JAVA Programming, Data Structures, C# Programing

  • Participate in ongoing curriculum review, assessment, development and modification, and alignment with Computer Science programs at 4-year schools

  • Develop instructional material consistent with course objectives and student learning outcomes and competencies

  • Use new technologies in the classroom to supplement instruction

  • Participate in on-going professional development

  • Teach in different modalities such as online, hybrid, web enhanced and learning community seminars and clusters

  • Use problem based learning, reflective writing, task-based, case-based learning (TBCBL), as well as classroom group/team work to develop critical thinking and other employability skills

  • Stay abreast of changes in technology, expand that knowledge base and incorporate that learning into the curriculum

  • Actively participate as a faculty member in the general College community and fulfill duties as stipulated in the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree Required, Doctoral Degree Preferred

  • Ability to teach a variety of courses including, but not limited to: C++ Programming, Python Programming, SQL Programming, JAVA Programming, Data Structures, C# Programming

  • Community College or 4-Year College teaching experience preferred

  • Related programming industry experience a plus

  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $46,000.00-$74,000.00. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Relocation Stipend May Be Available.

The Coordinator will assist with overall leadership, training, management and student communication and service within the Student Central. Student Central is a student success department integrating front line student service related to financial aid, student payment, registration and academic records. Student Central is both a centralized physical location and a virtual hub where students can access information, resources and services Specific Duties: * Act as direct supervisor to staff and to student workers in the Student Central * Responsible for hiring and supporting staff * Design integrated training materials and implement comprehensive and ongoing professional development * Design and implement an integrated communication plan for the Student Central * Coordinate efforts to ensure excellent customer service and efficient problem resolution * Assess staffing needs to ensure proper staff coverage (phones, self-service kiosks, front desk) during peak periods and appropriately allocate and assign staff for special projects * Support on-going and continuous business process improvement and initiatives to improve student success * Communicate policies and procedures to students, faculty and staff on behalf of the Student Central * Ensure excellence in student-service and learner-centered interactions at the Student Central * Participate in testing software upgrades/implementations, generating reports and evaluating technical opportunities for improvements * Perform other duties as assigned Requirements: * Bachelor's degree and three years of full-time experience in higher education an academic or student services office or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience * Demonstrated experience successfully managing processes with deadline dependent tasks * Demonstrated experience in understanding, interpreting and enforcing policy and procedures * Demonstrated attention to detail and to multi-task in a busy environment * Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. * Demonstrated experience supervising staff * Proven ability to work in a diverse faculty, staff and student environment Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in Academic Records, Registrar, Financial Aid, Student Payment, or similar office * Experience using Colleague student information systems * Experience in community college * Experience working in a union environment Additional Information: Salary Range: $49,711.00-$54,000.00 Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
