Qualifications:

  • 2 years prior experience in the LTL industry preferred

  • AS400 experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of Qualcomm or similar unit

  • Position subject to pre-employment drug screen

  • Fluent in English

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills

  • Considers the impact of the decisions on the entire team and the company as a whole, while demonstrating effective leadership and partnership management skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

  • Must have good computer skills and be able to work with Microsoft office, spreadsheets and statistical data

  • Must have respect for drivers

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines

  • Must be a self-motivated, Team Player

  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations/requirements

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Assist with process improvement and efficiency, quality, excellence, customer service (internal and external) and our culture

  • Work to maintain optimum efficiency through process, questions and reconfirmation

  • Occasionally prepare, distribute, & file various correspondence, forms and records

  • Help Customers with pick ups, deliveries and tracking of shipments

  • Communicate to management any issues that would affect the business

  • Responsible to supervise and direct the day-to-day PUD activities of drivers.

  • Directing/training/coaching all PUD personnel, promoting excellent customer service, monitoring/measuring work performance, planning/restructuring city routes, disciplining employees and working with interline partners

  • Assist with process improvement and efficiency, quality, excellence, customer service (internal and external) and our culture

  • Work to maintain optimum efficiency through process, questions and reconfirmation

  • Responsible for training new hires, insuring they know the job and do it correctly

  • Communicate to management any issues that would affect the business

  • May be required to run a route when business conditions warrant

  • Various other duties as assigned

Over the course of the program you will be coached and mentored by Driver Instructors as work towards your Certified Driver License (CDL) certification. Successful completion of our Phase One Dock to Driver Orientation program will result in enrollment of the candidate in our Phase Two Driver Finishing program. Once you have completed both phases your status will be upgraded to Company driver. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: * 1 year experience preferred * High School graduate or equivalent * Ability to work in time-sensitive environment * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to both staff and customers * Ability to work under pressure * Must be able to read and speak English proficiently * Warehouse/LTL experience preferred * Forklift experience required JOB DUTIES: * Loading and unloading of trailers using proper equipment dolly, forklift, etc. * Protecting of freight to avoid damage * Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary * Abiding by and enforcing all company safety policies * Accurate reporting of all paperwork, including bills of lading and manifests * Takes direction from terminal manager/supervisor. * Direct the handling of freight from the time it is received, to the time it leaves, and ensure that it is in the right place at the right time. * Communicate clearly with other dock workers and drivers, employees at other terminals and with customers who come to pick up their freight. * Inform Terminal Manager/supervisor of any incidents or issues. * Various other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position operates in a variety of work conditions, both indoor and outdoor, sometimes in extreme heat and cold.
