About Identity Platforms
The Identity Team is responsible for Verizon Media's Identity and Privacy suite of products. We provide the platform and services for our users and partners to create, manage, and secure user accounts and their privacy options through online access and web service APIs. Every entry point to Verizon Media Technologies and properties go through Identity, which puts us in a very critical role at Verizon Media.
Be part of a 4-5 engineer scrum team responsible for delivering end-to-end user stories.
Working with a Node.js and Express based MVC infrastructure
Contributing to the continual improvement of our design and development process
Working with backend engineering, product management and community/customer care to solve problems and fix bugs
Take high level design and break it down into low level design.
Convert detailed design into code accompanied by unit and functional tests.
Provide level of effort (LoE) estimates.
Troubleshoot issues and bugs.
Position Impact This position allows us to hire a person who can help build Privacy products and features. In many cases we are required by law but more importantly, we have an obligation towards our users to provide them with the ability to manage their privacy options. With these features and products, Verizon Media will provide a superior user experience and comply with various Privacy laws. This will also help the team by having a dedicated engineer to work on Privacy features instead of spreading team thin on multiple critical asks.
Position Opportunity We expect user privacy to be a big theme in coming years. Countries and States around the world will introduce new laws around user privacy and not complying with these laws could result in revenue loss and/or fines. Our users are also getting more aware of their privacy options. They expect transparency and ability to make the choices. The person in this position will work on a wide variety of initiatives and build domain expertise over time. This in turn will help us build future projects with faster turnaround time.
Position Requirements Minimum qualifications:
BS in Computer Science
Minimum of 2 years of recent hands-on experience writing web applications that perform well across browsers, operating systems, languages and devices
1+ years working experience with Node.js on the server
Thorough and recent experience with HTML and CSS
Current and detailed knowledge of browser peculiarities and how to work around them
A disciplined approach to development, documentation and file structure
Strong visual design sense and excellent taste
Hands-on experience using Git for software version control.
Must have worked as part of an Agile scrum team.
Additional preferred qualifications:
MS in Computer Science.
Client- or server-side JS performance optimization
Responsive layouts, and coding for all screens
Experience working with an internationalized sites
Familiarity with Privacy and Identity domains.
