Your day

As a Front Office Lead

  • Medical Receptionist you need to know how to:
  • Complete various reports as delegated by Practice Administrator.

  • Monitor front desk work-queues in e-Summit and delegates work-queues tasks to co-workers.

  • Attend staff meetings and provider meetings on a daily and weekly basis.

  • Represent front desk at monthly Q.I. team meetings and other leadership meetings

  • Train all new front office staff and front office floats on all stations at front desk.

  • Complete initial front office staff competencies.

  • Act as liaison to Revenue Services Center.

  • Order and maintain all office supplies and equipment needed for normal daily business operations.

  • Introduce and greet patients in a prompt and pleasant manner.

  • Register patient in a prompt, pleasant manner; verify and records necessary demographic information.

  • Verify insurance and method of payment, collect co-payments and payments on account.

  • Anticipate healthcare providers' needs and direct calls and questions to appropriate staff and providers.

  • Express both verbal and written thoughts clearly and concisely.

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served

  • Is self-directed, motivated and functions successfully as a leader in a team environment.

  • Open and close telephone lines, monitor phone volume, answer phone calls, direct calls, document clear and concise messages in e-Summit

  • Schedule and confirm appointments, distributes daily and updated schedule to providers and staff.

  • Complete no-show appointment process per clinic protocol.

  • Monitor activity in waiting area and communicates with medical assistants to maintain good clinic flow.

  • Maintain orderly waiting area for patient and visitors on a daily basis.

  • Contact building manager to report facility issues.

  • Contact Help Desk and/or enters e-tickets for technology problems.

  • Act as a back-up for daily batch production, cash and user batch reports.

  • Ensure that paper records and scanning is done effectively and accurately each day

Your experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree

  • 2 years' experience in outpatient clinic or other healthcare environment

  • Experience and skill with MS office software.

  • Experience with an electronic practice management or EMR system
