MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma.

  • Experience: 1 year minimum of medical office or healthcare facility experience

  • Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented.

  • Ability to work with culturally diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive, appropriate and non-judgmental.

  • Work well under pressure and maintain a consistently pleasant and professional demeanor when communicating with the public and staff.

  • Be able to maintain a calm and professional attitude even in the face of crisis and dramatic presentation.

  • Ensure that work assignments and information gathered from day to day work is not shared with anyone and protects all patient and agency information.

  • Is knowledgeable of and maintains HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and written skills.

  • Able to work in different work settings and environments

  • Basic casework skills (referrals, advocacy).

  • Must be able to learn and utilize computer software programs.

  • Willing to work beyond normal working hours when necessary.

  • Must possess reasonable ability to communicate in English.

  • This is a Safety Sensitive Position as defined in the Alcohol & Drug Policy.

  • This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing.

  • This is a covered position which requires background check that includes fingerprinting.

  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.

  • Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process.

SUMMARY

Responsible for reviewing patients History, Diagnosis, demographics or chief complaint and barriers to care.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for greeting incoming patients in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Complete and accurate information should be obtained from the patient for billing and demographics purposes.

  • All incoming calls should be answered in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Accurate information should be communicated to the caller in a customer- oriented manner

  • Calls should be routed to the intended recipient timely and accurately

  • Completes administrative duties that ensure the patient's visit is smooth, billing can be processed timely and accurately, and front office remains clutter free and organized

  • Ensure that barriers to care (such as language, transportation and financial) are addressed

  • Collaborate with available community programs, or internal departments to provide assistance to patients

  • Work with Front Office Assistant to ensure copays are collected at the time of visit and in accordance with patient insurance guidelines

  • Patient charts should either be created if it is a first-time visitor or located if it is a return visit

  • Determine patient needs and connect patient to appropriate community agencies and services (i.e. housing, legal aid, emergency shelter, domestic violence, employment, adult education, food/clothing, etc.).

  • Coordinates all logistic support to department, including supplies and equipment.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.

  • Maintain appearance standards as outlined in CTCLUSI policies.

  • Must be able to interact with Tribal members and the general public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.

  • Strong critical thinking skills

  • Dedicated to providing the best patient care possible.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism during stressful times.

  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and vendors of Three Rivers Health Center.

  • Maintain a good attendance record.

  • Other duties as directed by management.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Standard medical equipment and supplies including thermometer and syringes. May involve use of assistive devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, ventilators, pulse oximetry units, and oxygen tanks.

  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.

  • Must be willing and able to work long hours, which may include evenings and weekends.

  • Must be willing and able to travel both locally and within the CTCLUSI service delivery area.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient's manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • May be required to work in locations other than Three Rivers Health Center, such as schools or at an outreach work location.

  • May be required to attend meetings, conferences and Tribal events.
