Earth Class Mail, an online service for accessing postal mail is looking for a talented Front End Engineer to join us in designing and building applications used by thousands of customers every day.

You are proficient in JavaScript, CSS3, and HTML5. You will be using React and TypeScript to create delightful user experiences for our customers at a global scale. You will be responsible for our web technology stacks and front-end development llfe-cycle, demonstrating best practices in web application architecture and design, and work to ensure high standards in usability, accessibility and performance of our products.

You will be part of a team of software engineers, designers, product managers and data scientists designing new products and experiences for our customers. Your team will work in an Agile manner and own the full stack of their applications and services. You will be involved in every aspect of delivering value to our customers and growing the business. This includes idea generation, business analysis, technical and architectural design, understanding customer engagement with our products and inventing new ways to improve product engagement and adoption.

Requirements

  • Computer Science Honours degree (2:1 or better) or another technical degree or postgraduate study. In lieu of degree, relevant skills and equivalent experience.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and strong problem solving skills.
  • Proficiency with web technologies including HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Proficiency with one or more modern JavaScript front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, VueJS or Ember.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as JavaScript, C#, Ruby, Python, or PHP
  • Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Contentful.
  • Knowledge of search engine optimisation; Interest in Growth hacking.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understand view layout and rendering technologies (e.g., responsiveness, progressive enhancement, browser/device support). Know when it is appropriate to make graceful fallbacks.
  • Understand the importance of testing front-end components and has experience with creating unit and integration tests related to the front-end components they develop.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of front-end system design, interaction with backend APIs, and performance/security considerations.
  • Able to solve difficult software and UX problems with some ambiguity. Pushes for information to avoid solving the wrong problem and mitigate UI risks early in the process to avoid feature delays. Can decompose a problem into clear software and UX design actions.

As an Front End Department Supervisor, this means: * Removing barriers, addressing inefficiencies, and enabling staff to delighting our customers. * Collaborating with front-end and back-end operations associates to ensure items are adequately stocked. * Monitoring use of store power equipment and coaching employees on safe behaviors and lifting techniques. The Front End Department Supervisor is primarily responsible for leading and enabling a team of associates to deliver the best possible customer experience in the store. This includes coaching and training associates, delegating, following-up on daily tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. The Front End Department Supervisor impacts Lowe's mission daily by planning, scheduling, monitoring, and successfully implementing all non-selling operations in the front end of the store, facilitating the store's ability to provide a superior customer shopping experience and maximize sales and profitability. To be successful, the Front End Department Supervisor must collaborate and communicate with other Department Supervisors and Assistant Store Managers to determine the most effective methods for meeting service, operations, and safety objectives. The individual in this role must continuously drive efficiencies and be able to teach others the skills needed to maintain effective store operations. It is important that this associate communicate upward to keep management informed of concerns, issues, recognitions, and morale. The Front End Department Supervisor helps keep our store safe by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, training and monitoring staff, and understanding all safety and lifting requirements. In addition to the responsibilities summarized above, individuals in this role may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty (MOD). Travel Requirements: This role does not require regular travel; however, this role may need to travel on occasion to meetings, trainings, or to support neighboring stores. What We're Looking For * Hourly Full Time: Generally scheduled 39 to 40 hours; more hours may be required based on the needs of the store. * Requires morning, afternoon and evening availability any day of the week. * Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties. * Minimally must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance; may lift over 25 pounds with or without assistance. What You Need To Succeed Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in a retail environment OR 5 years of experience in a retail environment. * Experience providing direction or supervision to teams (with or without direct report responsibility). * Experience supporting or participating in the process of training, mentoring and developing associates. * Experience working cross-functionally. * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications * Experience supporting front-end or back-end operations in a retail environment. * Experience in customer service role. * Experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility. * Experience working in the home improvement retail sector. * Experience working in a fast paced, dynamic retail environment. * Experience in key carrying role with manager-on-duty responsibilities. * Experience using store computer systems (including but not limited to: Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client, etc.).
