Front Desk Attendant - (Recreation Leader I/II)

Job Description:
Under general supervision, this position is assigned to perform a variety of duties to support the users of various indoor and outdoor City facilities and programs. The Recreation Leader I/II oversee programs and rental activities. This includes opening and closing buildings, monitoring facility use including facility and guest safety during rentals, setting up tables and chairs for rentals, City programs and events, performing light janitorial and custodial duties, ensuring compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of facilities, and performing other duties as required. Within this classification, specific positions will include: Facility Attendant, Front Desk and Customer Service Representative.
Examples of Duties for these positions may include:
Opening and/or closing facility
Monitoring facility for safety, cleanliness and appropriate use
Checking daily facility schedule and/or rental setup diagrams
Set up and break down the facility for rentals and events
Cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing assigned program area
Greeting patrons and answering phone calls
Providing patrons with information regarding programs, rentals, facility directions, schedules, site rules, policies and regulations.
Maintain professional, courteous behavior toward co-workers, members of the public, and all other contacts in the course of work.
Directing patron questions to the appropriate department when necessary
Use computer for data entry, roster printing, processing registrations, memberships, rental reservation and POS system
Providing first aid care in the event of incident and writing incident report
Assist with miscellaneous office tasks, i.e. retrieving and distributing mail, receiving shipments, delivering items to program sites
Set-up and operate audio, video, or other technology focused equipment for programs, uses, and events.
Assist with activities including but not limited to sports, wellness, programs, classes and special events
Promptly reporting facility or customer issues to supervisor
Assist in the inventory of facility supplies and equipment.
Performing related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Work is assigned at both indoor and outdoor facilities, and may include exposure to unsanitary conditions, odors, cleaning chemicals, and some noise. The successful candidate must be able to work variable hours, including mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Physical Demands
Light to moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds); pushing; pulling; crawling; climbing; and prolonged periods of standing. Lifting above the shoulders, working off a ladder, manual dexterity, and good vision and hearing are also required.

Supplemental Position Information:
Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be dismissed at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, apart from paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 24 hours (or 3 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.
