JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent will assist a graduate student with freshwater fisheries investigations in the United States Virgin Islands. The incumbent will travel to the US Virgin Islands and remain there for three months until field work is completed. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

75% - Essential: Conducting freshwater fisheries surveys. Duties include backpack electrofishing, seining, and other forms of fish/insect capture. Surveys include measuring instream habitat and water quality.

20% - Essential: Data entry.

5% - Essential: Other duties as need. Examples include planning field sampling, coordinating with agency collaborators, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School or Equivalent

  • Work experience in a clinical or research setting.

Work Experience: 6+ months years field experience in fisheries, aquatic sciences, or other natural resources field.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education: 1st Bachelor's Degree

  • Fisheries science, aquatic science, natural resources, biology, or related degrees

Work Experience: 2+ years of field experience

Certifications: Electrofishing, boating, or other related trainings.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Anticipated Hourly Rate: $20.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
