Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Drives sales and profit in Meat, Prepared Food, and Freezer/Cooler area by ensuring effective merchandise presentation, including accurate and competitive pricing, proper signing, in- stock and inventory levels, budgeting, and forecasting sales; assessing economic trends and community needs; reviewing club financial reports (for example, profit and loss (P and L), operational income statement (OPIS)); comparing projected financial results with actual results; ensuring Fresh financial performance is meeting budgetary expectations; and managing product and labor ordering and scheduling based upon analysis results

Manages and enforces Sam's Club Meat, Prepared Food, and Freezer/Coolor standards by evaluating finished product, packaging, and in-stock; comparing finished product to published standards; removing substandard products from display area; training Meat, Prepared Food, and Freezer/Cooler associates and holding them accountable to sanitation and department standards; ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards; evaluating and improving club in stock and fresh production planning; performing Fresh equipment reviews; managing Fresh standards, specification guides, and recipe guides adherence; managing backroom organization; and managing Meat, Prepared Food, and Freezer/Cooler product layout on the sales floor.

Manages club Meat, Prepared Food, and Freezer/Cooler area performance by reviewing current club Fresh performance (for example, sales, production planning, food safety); identifying gaps between projected results and actual business results; managing Fresh area processes to close performance gaps; managing food safety compliance requirements (for example, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration ( OSHA)); assisting the third-party technical team in delivering training; implementing and monitoring process improvements to meet the club's financial goals; and making adjustments to processes as business conditions require.

Oversees and enforces the execution of food safety standards, cold chain compliance and food merchandise quality by evaluating the temperature,storage, sanitation, date coding, product rotation and recalls on stocked merchandise; and training associates about Food safety standards, sanitation, and expectations.

Creates budgets for sales, expenses, and wages and monitors club indexing, making sure budgeted numbers are achieved, and ensures department staffing levels are within company guidelines.

Works as part of the management team by ensuring all opening and closing procedures are followed; communicating with opening and closing managers to ensure a smooth transition from day to night operations; and participating in discussions about merchandising opportunities and directions, scheduling concerns, associate issues, issues needing to be escalated, additional resources needed, and any special opening or closing instructions or information.

Plans the production, labor, and execution for major events (for example, holiday, seasonal demands) by reviewing the production plan report; modifying production plans based upon holidays, local events, weather forecasts, and other local events impacting member traffic; modifying fresh associate's schedules based upon projected changes in member traffic; reviewing projected business results and comparing them to actual results; and making adjustments as business conditions require.

Ensures membership growth by improving the member experience and building member relationships; making business visits; requesting Club of the Community (COTC) merchandise; and appropriately training and scheduling member service associates. Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and ensuring diversity awareness. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.

The Manager is responsible for the implementation and conduct of clinical research trials focused on lung cancer early detection/prevention and for the oversight of the research staff assigned to the program. Examples of Work Performed Program Management * Responsible for promoting quality research by implementing good clinical practices to insure study flow and adherence to all governing regulations. * Plans and directs investigator and coordinator meetings (i.e. Initial orientations, study audits, closeout visits, physician meetings, research team meetings) or delegates responsibility to team members as appropriate * Acts as an inter-institutional and inter-departmental liaison for all regulatory, administrative and staff issues at the various organizations and with all departments involved in the conduct and/or oversight of clinical research. Organizations include, but are not limited to, the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, the VA affiliated non-profit research corporation Denver Research Institute, University of Colorado Hospital and affiliated medical centers, and University of Colorado AMC. Departments include, but are not limited to, the CU Cancer Center Administrative Office, the CU Tissue Biorepository, Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB), and Grants and Contracts. Regulatory Oversight * Responsible for the regulatory filings and compliance for all studies within the lung cancer early detection/prevention trial portfolio, including IRB submissions, continuing reviews, FDA filings, and submission of documentation required by study sponsors. * Manages all protocol amendments or delegates the responsibility as appropriate. * Participates in preparation for, conduct of, and generation of responses to external audits. * Participates in preparation for, conduct of, and generation of responses to Data Safety Monitoring 6 month reports. * Provides guidance regarding FDA and Good Clinical Practice regulation to clinical and investigator staff. Study Management * Responsible for the conduct of all clinical study protocols assigned to the team * Responsible for ensuring team and study compliance with all institutional requirements regarding the use of OnCore®, the institution's clinical trial management system. This includes oversight of all steps required to initiate and maintain a protocol within the Oncore system and ensuring all study subjects are correctly registered in OnCore in a timely manner. * Responsible for assignment of staff to cover trials * Responsible for insuring conduct of studies and interactions with potential subjects by staff members is appropriate and aligned with all federal, state and organizational rules requirements * Responsible for all required reporting on unanticipated events, including adverse events and serious adverse events; and on all protocol deviations * Responsible for appropriate collection, and recording of all clinical data and documentation as required by the protocol * Responsible for acquiring, and maintaining, active appointments at all trial sites. Budgeting, Contracting and Financial Oversight * Serves as study liaison with external sponsors and internal offices (Cancer Center Administration, Grants and Contracts, COMIRB) to insure budget and contract negotiations progress smoothly and remain in alignment with the protocol * Responsible for developing study budgets as needed * Meets monthly with CU Cancer Center Administrative Office to review study financials and discuss funding availability for completion of studies * Meets as needed with Dr. Keith to discuss study funding and strategize on how to address potential funding shortfalls Team Oversight * Responsible for all clinical research personnel assigned to the team including hiring, training and addressing performance issues with guidance from Dr. Keith, the CU Cancer Center Administrative Office, and University Human Resources office. * Responsible for quality of employee performance and provides appropriate support and direction to assist employees in resolving any issues technical or other issues that arise. * Manages workload balance/acuity across team members and assures clinical research staff coverage is adequate to serve the needs of the trial portfolio. * Manages all staff updates in OnCore in a timely and accurate manner. * Completes OnCore specification and protocol sign-off as appropriate. * Manages team member vacations, out of office coverage, and the time management of direct reports. * Develops standard practices for the team based on GCP guidelines and oversees implementation of, and adherence to standard practices. * Facilitates team building and cohesiveness.
