French Technical Translator

National Instruments is seeking a talented, experienced French Technical Translator to join the R&D Localization organization. The Localization Team is in charge of localizing several National Instruments' product lines, including the software user interface and the product documentation and other aspects of product content.

The selected individual for this position will become familiar with emerging technologies, and will work closely with Product Project Managers, Engineers and Technical Writers throughout the development of the product being localized.

Main responsibilities will consist of (but not limited to) what is listed below:

  • Translate NI content, mainly technical assets

  • Review NI content translated by others - internally or externally - and provide actionable feedback

  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of linguistic assets: terminology databases, translation memories and style guides

  • Work with different stakeholders in order to ensure the quality of the localized product, from development to release

  • Be a culture ambassador of your region, flagging potential cultural issues with content types, wording or choice of images in source text and articulate suggestions to make content appropriate and relevant for the target market

  • Creation ofinternationalization, layout, and display guidelines for your region

  • BA in translation or comparable language degree or BA of any kind, or equivalent professional experience

  • Native fluency level in French and fluent level in English

  • Min 2 years of experience with technical documentation translation

  • Good command of CAT tools

  • Strong interest in and comfortable with technology subject matter, and abreast of industry trends and developments

  • Understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and understanding of basic electronic concepts

  • Ability to work well with others in a multi-cultural environment as well as with cross-departmental teams

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to handle multiple projects and priorities

  • Persistence and initiative to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of quality assessment tools and familiar with DQF evaluation framework

  • Culturally sensitive with good knowledge of internationalization needs for the region

  • Knowledge of NI products and target industries
