French Teacher - High School (Fall 2024 Start)

Falmouth High School is seeking a dynamic and innovative full-time French teacher starting in the 2024-25 academic year. This individual will teach five sections of student-centered classes in French (college prep. and Honors) designed to develop clear and effective communicators who have a deep understanding of and appreciation for world languages. Other full-time faculty responsibilities include serving as an advisor, supporting independent student learning initiatives, and taking an active role in the school community in support of student learning and wellness. Falmouth teachers are expected to engage in ongoing professional learning, authentic collaboration with other faculty and staff, and regular goal-setting and reflection.

The ideal candidate:

• is passionate about teaching French and has genuine concern for students' academic growth and character development
• has strong educational background and teaching experience in French
• has a demonstrated history of employing innovative pedagogies that are grounded in strong understanding of adolescent development and learning theory
• possesses the ability to differentiate instruction and help students master the subject matter despite different skill levels or ages
• confidently integrates technology to advance education in the classroom
• prioritizes positive collegial interactions and collaborative relationships with other teachers
• possesses excellent communication and organizational skillsis culturally competent and supports diverse learners

Qualifications / Certifications / Experience / Degree requirement:

• Must hold (or be eligible to hold) the Maine Department of Education teaching certificate (420 French)

• Experience working with high school students is preferred

• Approved background check (run by the district)
