Position Summary

The Canadian French Localization Specialist is responsible for localizing training, online help content and product documentation for CDK Global's Learning & Performance organization. This position will localize written, presentation, audio, elearning and video content in French Canadian, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone. To be successful in this role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in at least French Canadian and English. Ultimately, you will provide ready-to-use translated content that meets our internal needs and helps us educate and support our French Canadian customers.

Position Responsibilities & Essential functions

  • Reading material and researching industry-specific terminology

  • Converting text and audio recordings from English to French Canadian

  • Recording audio for elearning in French Canadian (voiceovers)

  • Ensuring localized texts conveys original meaning and tone

  • Localize subtitle and text for video, eLearning and online presentations

  • Proofread localized texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy

  • Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure localized content meets their needs

  • Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure)

  • Network with field experts to stay current on new localization tools and practices

Qualifications & Job Requirements

  • Proven work experience in localization

  • Fluency in at least two languages (French Canadian and English)

  • Time-management skills

  • Enjoys working with a variety of tasks, and capable of independently managing workflow, information, and processes between different teams and stakeholders

  • Able to work independently

  • Ability to liase with product marketing, product development and other internal audiences to ensure alignment in terminology, nomenclature, and context for localized content

Preferred Attributes & Qualifications

  • Experience with Storyline or Captivate eLearning development software

  • CDK or Automotive dealership experience

  • Language / Localization-related certification

  • QA / Testing experience
