The Freight Specialist ensures timely and cost-effective delivery of materials utilizing the Phillips 66 Procured Materials Freight process in support of a broad North America capital project base.
Accountabilities and End Results:
Strategic support and coordination of the transportation needs necessary to deliver procured materials in an efficient and well controlled manner by utilizing leveraged freight contracts and standardized processes that meet business needs. Adheres to corporate standards and trade regulations as well as mitigates financial and liability risks for Phillips 66.
Responsibilities may include:
Coordinating and making decisions that result in the delivery of procured materials including:
Adherence to the PSC Procured Materials Freight Process and management of the material PO freight language that automates the process.
Reviewing and resolving stakeholder, EPC and vendor issues involving freight discrepancies.
Analyzing modes of transportation, shipping lanes, rates and expedited shipments to identify and exploit leveraging opportunities.
Work with buyers, expeditors, finance, project procurement managers, and strategic partners on project initiatives.
Manage the account relationships with heavy haul transport providers.
Review freight invoices for accuracy and compliance with Freight Management agreements. Resolve any discrepancies.
Subject matter expert on project freight transport.
Guiding and directing existing client groups on how to effectively utilize the Freight Management group and PMF process.
Developing and maintaining relationships with industry contacts to stay abreast of trends.
Supporting capital project teams with high degree of customer service. This requires a strong working knowledge of all available transportation options and diverse industry contact list covering all modes of transportation including but not limited to truck, heavy haul transport, barge, specialized rail, break bulk, and air freight.
Facilitate efforts to ensure on-going alignment of the Procured Materials Freight Process with the SAP global common design for freight.
Bachelor's degree in a Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or Transportation discipline
5 or more years of supply chain or logistics experience
Basic knowledge of contracting, buying, and capital project processes
Basic knowledge of accounts payable processes
Demonstrated competency in transportation industry operations, terminology and commercial law
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, and SAP MM module
Competency in transportation industry operations and terminology
Good decision-making skills
Effective in time management and setting priorities
Strong analytical skills
