What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Manage the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery service provided to our customers

  • Guide the complete daily operations of the Service Center

  • Oversee revenue, profit and cost controls

  • Ensure proper staffing, utilization and management of personnel

  • Mentor and manage all personnel working at the facility

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree, 4 years of related work experience or equivalent military experience

  • 5 years of Less-than-Truckload (LTL) freight management and/or service center/sales management experience

  • Knowledge of the LTL industry, hazardous materials regulations, OSHA and Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Strong interpersonal and management skills; ability to effectively lead, coach and influence employees

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience

This job requires the ability to:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally

  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel

  • Walk and stand for extended periods of time on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery

Oversees systems that ensure machines are ready and support staff is in place to meet customer's needs. This position sets policies and procedures for EMD Heavy Rents and ensures customers and employees are highly satisfied. Works closely with Service Department to maximize uptime with EMD units as well as CRS fleet to ensure fleet size. Additionally, accountable for rental fleet performance, new, used and rental inventory, as well as responsibility for achieving profitability. This position is a leadership position, which sets the tone for urgency and hustle while creating a world-class rental and sales operation.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Sets clear expectations for the branch employees: coordinators and yard persons relative to our overall goals. * Direct responsibility for all yard and coordinator personnel at EMD locations. * Responsible for assisting the Vice President and Used Equipment Manager on developing and executing a comprehensive business plan that includes strategies for revenue and profitability goals and annual fleet plans. * Participation in monthly financial review of the division and stores. * Responsible for completion of annual Caterpillar Heavy Rents Certification * Work closely with EMD Sales-team to ensure consistency in sales processes for each yard and coordinator team * Work closely with CRS Branch Managers and Operation Manager to work through overlapping duties and strategies to ensure consistency for rental throughout company * Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive training programs for all EMD Heavy Rents employees for product knowledge, sales and safety techniques. * Work with Sales Operations Manager on inventory reconciliation. * Promote customer service and profitability to attain our goals. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department and staff. * Safety – promote a safety culture and work to reduce or eliminate accidents by enforcing our safety regulations. * Assist with the difficult customer calls and customer damage as requested * Supervise the "deadline" equipment for quickest turnaround and prioritize by need. * Travel to the various EMD stores as often as needed to ensure success utilizing a standardized approach. * Responsible for working with each EMD Shop, Sales-team on all aspects of facility and yard. * Other duties may be assigned as needed.
