Position Description
The Oregon Consumer League Fight for Main Street Project is seeking an experienced part-time freelance editor with a passion for consumer protection. The position will oversee the planning and content creation of articles that tell the stories of how our judicial courts play a key part in protecting consumers and provide access to justice against corporations and organizations that harm consumers. The freelance editor may write articles and/or oversee and edit other writers.
This is a remote position.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or similar major preferred. Will also consider a student in their college senior year along with editorial or assistant editor experience.
Required Qualifications
Passion for consumer protection and consumer justice.
Proven experience in editorial planning and content creation.
Strong writing and critical reading skills.
Strong project management skills with the ability to control schedules and enforce deadlines.
Creative thinking and innovation in engaging readers.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Experienced in utilizing proofreading procedures and style guides.
Ability to resolve editorial issues promptly.
Budget management and personnel supervision experience.
Familiarity with word processing software and editing features.
Beneficial Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven ability to lead.
Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.
High level of integrity.
