Position: Pharmacy Tech I

Location: Clearwater, FL

Schedule: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm M-F and recurring weekend work

Responsible for the interpretation and data entry of basic prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and troubleshooting adjudication issues.

Primary duties may include, but not limited to:

  • Verifies member information and inputs data for the pharmacists.

  • Educates members on pharmacy based rules related to prescriptions and medication resources or assistance programs.

  • Processes prior authorization requests from physicians' offices and ensures compliance with Medicare requirements; informs relevant parties of all prior authorization determinations.

  • Provides resolution to grievances and appeals issues. Responds to inquiries from physicians, sales team, and members related to formulary and prescription benefits.

  • Generates reports relating to rebates, physician utilization, Beers Criteria, Reliance members, and other ad hoc reports.

  • Maintains record keeping of prior authorizations, rebates, and monthly reports.

Requires High School diploma and up to 1 year of pharmacy experience, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. State Tech-in-Training certificate may be required in applicable state(s). Must obtain State Pharmacy Tech certification within 1 year. Basic computer and written, oral and interpersonal communications skills required.

We are a fast-paced mail order pharmacy providing respiratory medication to our Lincare patients. * MUST have an active FL Registered Pharmacy Technician license * typing skills, including 10-key operation, preferred * excellent phone skills * comfortable in a team environment and also able to work independently * will be cross-trained in both Up Front position and Filling Tech position * up front duties = Rx Entry, Data Entry, Speaking with Patients on the Phone, Placing Orders, etc. * Filling Tech position = filling patient's medication orders; able to stand for an 8 hour shift Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday, NO Weekends! SUMMARY - Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician will assist the pharmacist in filling, labeling and mixing medications. They will also enter prescription orders into the computer, create and update patient health and insurance information, correspond with the insurance companies regarding the payments for prescription claims and assist with the pharmacy inventory management. Member of the Quality Improvement Committee. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Selects drugs from stock for preparations; counts, pours, or mixes pharmaceuticals; places pharmaceutical products in appropriate containers and affixes labels to containers; packages and repackages pharmaceuticals to other clinics. * Monitors prescription inventory for expired pharmaceuticals that must be returned to manufacturer; receives and prices incoming pharmaceuticals; verifies invoices and statements. * Receives prescriptions and obtains information from patients at pharmacy window to determine financial class and eligibility; using a computerized system, enters prescription data to create a patient profile and prescription label; prepares and maintains patient profile with notations for pharmacist's review; performs clerical accounting duties related to billing and eligibility. * Answers telephone and takes messages for patient refill request and related pharmacy business; maintains the pharmacy in a clean and orderly condition; performs data entry for the billing and re-billing. * Rotates as a member, Quality Improvement Committee.
