Manage the Free Trade Agreement Desk (USMCA, CAFTA, US-KOREA, US-Australia, US-Chile, US-Singapore, US-Colombia, etc). This includes requesting and maintaining vendor declarations, working with hundreds of domestic and international customers, brokers/agents, vendors; maintaining proper harmonized tariff numbers in the USMCA system; analyzing products for preferential treatment; and issuing, maintaining, and logging certificates for all buisness units, to all customers for Lanxess and affiliates. In addition, this will also encompass being responsible for the implementation of new business / new materials in the GTS system, working closely with Global Compliance in Germany.
Responsible for the LANXESS Duty Drawback Program. Apply and maintain knowledge of drawback programs and procedures to minimize duty outlay and maximize duty refunds. Prepare drawback reports, work with our contracted agent in preparing sample data trails, work with accounting to ensure that all refunds are allocated properly, and ensure records are accurate and properly maintained.
Work with the business units to identify areas of drawback for domestic customers and subsequentally prepare and submit Certificates of Delivery for Duty Drawback.
Establish policy procedures and compliance directives to ensure the Free Trade Agreements and Duty Drawback Program adhere to trade compliance laws and regulations.
Complete various compliance projects with direction from the Import Control Officer.
Act as a backup for the Import Control Officer and assist with import audits as needed.
BS/BA in International Business/Logistics/Related field or equivalent experience in trade compliance.
Previous experience with Free Trade Agreements and Duty Drawback Programs preferred.
Must communicate effectively with internal employees, external customers and vendors, and service organizations. In addition, must communicate with US Customs and the Department of Commerce.
Experience in developing procedures and project work.
Must be able to multitask, work independently and with a group when necessary.
Excellent record keeping skills.
Must work well under pressure.
Excellent quantitative/analytical skills, planning and organizational skills.
Excellent computer experience through the use of SAP and other software packages, especially excel.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
