We are seeking an experienced Fraud Specialist who will be responsible for supplementing the overall BSA and fraud management functions of the credit union. This person assumes the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) function for the Credit Union and will be responsible for the following:
Under general supervision, performs reviews of Credit Union operations and various departments of the organization to identify and mitigate fraud.
Compiles and issues reports detailing conclusions and providing recommendations for improvements.
Reviews various reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis including but not limited to: system reports for file maintenance changes, option changes, and unauthorized activity, check kiting, dormant accounts, loans paid ahead, and large currency transaction reports.
Monitors all aspects of BSA Compliance including, but not limited to the completion, and filing of CTRs, SARs, monitoring day-to-day reports, including the use of Verafin for BSA compliance including daily, weekly, and monthly BSA reports and procedures.
Assists in establishing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Investigates fraud claims and prepares bond claims. Files police reports as necessary.
Mitigates fraud by researching red flags that may come up during transactions (deposit, online takeover, inactive account, loan fraud, new accounts, etc.)
Complies with BSA and OFAC regulations within area of responsibility.
Minimum two years' experience of related experience in financial institutions.
A college degree preferred, but not required in lieu of similar or equal experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to independently write memos, reports and write detailed narratives for specific BSA Reports (e.g. SARs).
Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at one time.
Ability to work independently with minor supervision.
Must be P.C. proficient and have extensive knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Must be able to quickly process information to make informed decisions.
