About The Job

Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting a Fraud Prevention Investigator I. If you are the chosen candidate, you will be responsible for performing a variety of analytical duties to reduce and prevent fraud losses to the organization. You will be asked to analyze complex retail, commercial and loan related banking transactions to determine if there is a risk to the Bank of financial loss. As the incumbent you would make sound decisions in a timely manner to protect the assets of the organization and its clients. You would also deal directly with peers in other banking organizations as well as with members of law enforcement to investigate criminal activity perpetrated against the bank. In this position you would conduct fraud investigations; review fraud prevention reports and perform daily departmental administration duties to include the processing of invoices, bank wide alarm code management as well as access control entries and maintenance.
A minimum of 2 years of bank fraud prevention experience or prior experience in other risk management fields.
Strong organizational skills and accuracy are needed to maintain several active incident/cases simultaneously.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet scheduled deadlines.
Experience using personal computer systems for word processing with an intermediate level of skill.
Contact with diverse groups in furnishing and obtaining information which requires cooperation.
Ability to properly document actions for review and future use in court or other administrative settings.
Good interpersonal and telephone skills necessary to represent the company in a professional manner, and maintain positive rapport within the organization.
Excellent communication skills are needed including tact and discretion at times due to highly confidential information.
Ability to conduct effective interviews professionally.
Advanced problem solving skills are needed with an ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data from various sources as it applies to the assigned work tasks.
Aptitude for inquiry and research
Experience using on-line terminal systems
Work contacts may involve sensitive issues and must be handled with proper tact and professionalism.
Work is under direct supervision of more experienced persons where independent judgment is usually not required in the interpretation of policy.
