Job Description
Deli Rounder
Purpose: To provide excellent customer service. To keep all counter areas neat and clean, and to assist in the achievement of departmental goals. To float between all areas of the Deli as assigned.
Status: Reports to Assistant Deli Manager, or Deli Manager
Pay Level: I
Responsibilities:
Customer Service
Provide attentive and courteous customer service, greeting each customer that enters the department.
Maintain case displays
Assist in hot and cold bars service
Keep all counter aspects neat and clean
Sample deli and cheese items
Make juices, smoothies, and sandwiches quickly and efficiently
Cut, wrap, and package cheeses to fill case and back-stock
Attain sufficient knowledge of cheese to answer common customer questions professionally and knowledgeably and to make recommendations regarding cheese selections.
Stocking
Receive orders and put them away neatly and in accordance with department practices
Organize as needed
Stock and face Cases in the Deli keeping items looking full, organized and bountiful.
Prep Juice Bar items
Rotate product and remove out of date and substandard product from Deli Cases.
Consolidate and break down the hot bar throughout the night making it clean and looking full
Salad/Hot/Sandwich Bar
Follow safe food handling guidelines
Properly fill and flip the bars as needed throughout shifts
Prioritizing needed items for the salad bar for the PM Salad/Hot Bar Shift Lead to prep
Work with Deli Shift Leads to assist in the daily workflow
Maintain back stock of all items
Record temps on the salad bar and hot bar every 3 hours
Daily side tasks such as dish cover or prepping greens
Cleaning Expectations
Clean the Salad Bar, wrapping items that can be used for the next day
Pull all of the leftover Hot Bar food, Soup and Rotisserie chickens and clean each area at the end of the night
Cleaning stations you may have used in the deli from top to bottom at the end of every shift
Changing bleach water every 2 hours or when dirty
Sanitizing utensils and knives
Using proper cutting boards with meats and vegetables
Completing cleaning tasks assigned by leads if time allows
Asking for specific tasks when there's extra time
Partake in deep cleaning quarterly
Other Duties
Participate in departmental and storewide meetings and trainings
Participate in departmental inventories and projects
Other tasks as assigned by Deli Manager/Assistant Deli Manager/Deli and Cheese Shift Lead
Wash hands routinely, frequently and properly to ensure the safety of our products per Seward Co-ops Hand Washing Policy.
Qualifications:
Essential
Self-motivated, organized, responsible, flexible
Day, Night and Weekend Availability
Customer service experience
Regular, predictable attendance
Able to work well in a team to achieve departmental goals
Functional
English proficiency
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, squat and walk for extended periods of time per shift
Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
Ability to freely access all areas of the store including offices, sales floor, back stock areas, and walk-in coolers and freezers.
Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
Preferred
Demonstrated ability to work with customers and co-workers from various cultural backgrounds
Interested natural foods
Multilingual a plus
