Job Description

Our award winning Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort and Spa seeks an experienced Catering Sales Manager to join our team!

The Catering Sales Manager will support the Director of Sales and Marketing to market and supervise food, beverage, meeting room rental and other banquet services. They will also develop and foster catering business through direct sales.

Job Requirements

Sell and negotiate catering and banquet services.
Qualify leads and prospects gained from cold calls, sales blitzes, National Sales Office and other sources.
Cultivate lead sources. Network with fellow Sales Managers on leads. Distribute leads to sales managers in other Urgo managed hotels, when appropriate.
Local travel to conduct sales calls and participate in trade shows (local/regional) as listed in Marketing Plan and Action Plans.
Conduct tours of the hotel and banquet facilities and expose clients to facilities and services.
Negotiate food & beverage prices, meeting room rental, room rates, and other hotel services.
Finalize food, beverage and meeting room set-up requirements with client.
Communicate with executive and banquet chef, banquet service team, F&B Manager, and/or catering staff.
Confirm agreement with client and all affected departments in writing via Catering Sales contract or BEO.
Communicate with Banquet Supervisor and other vendors to ensure proper delivery of product and services.
Forecast individual booking revenues and cancellations. Accurately track consumption on all bookings.
Ensure Group Meetings section of hotel website is accurate for eSales and eEvents promotions. Monitor daily.
Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing with the implementation and achievement of the Catering Department Marketing Plan.
Assist the client in menu planning. Coordinate food, beverage, meeting room set-up, decorations and other services as requested by the client. Ensure all requirements are communicated and completed to the clients specifications.
Source and develop potential accounts; update and maintain all forms of account files.
Complete weekly sales reports. Submit to Director of Sales & Marketing.
Establish and maintain close contacts with top accounts and target accounts, through phone calls, tours, appointments, correspondence and entertainment. Assess their current and future needs. Network with prospects to uncover other decision-makers.
Communicate to and coordinate with other hotel departments and personnel all event information necessary for professional execution of commitments.
Maintain accurate sales files and trace system on top accounts and target accounts.
Perform sales tasks and goals as outlined in the marketing plan.
Attend and participate in weekly sales meetings, training seminars, and other meetings as requested by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Maintain good rapport with clients. Work closely with other departments to coordinate details, special requests and VIP packages.
Develop and maintain rapport with competitor hotels, City Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, lead sources and clients.
Participate in community activities, employee functions, and guest events.

CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Required: * High school diploma or GED * Proficiency in English (additional language required for certain positions) * Incumbent is required to maintain an active and in-good standing professional Real Estate License where mandated by law Preferred: * One-year related experience Successful Candidates Will Be Willing To: * Work at night (occasionally) * Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as required by business needs JOB SPECIFIC TASKS Building and Maintaining Customer Base * Answer owner questions regarding use of properties and location amenities; make recommendations given the background information obtained on the owner through discovery. * Follow up on referrals/leads from owners. * Fulfill requests from owners or prospects regarding pricing, property maps, property descriptions, room locations, and portfolio/network information. * Contact owners to monitor satisfaction, make aware of upcoming promotions, and develop business opportunities (e.g., reloads, referrals). * Develop and maintain records on customer contacts and use that information to support effective follow-up opportunities. * Monitor contract processing to minimize rescission decisions, provide comprehensive owner assurance and ensure timeliness of closings. Giving Sales Presentations * Follow and adhere to the Consultative Sales Process when presenting to owners and guests. * Establish trust with the prospective owner and Owners throughout the entire sales process to build on-going rapport. * Discover the needs of prospective owners and Owners through a series of strategically layered questions/discussion and utilize the information to customize the sales presentation. * Provide prospective owners and Owners a Sales Gallery, Property and Model tour specific to their sales distribution site. * Explain the features, advantages and benefits of the product and advocate the appropriate amount of points to accommodate the prospective owners and Owners current and future vacation needs. * Complete and close the sales contract process by ensuring all required/legal paperwork and documents are signed and notarized. * Practice and continue to develop and improve sales script and presentation. * Ensure clear understanding of finance options and present as an approach to ownership. * Prepare for daily appointments (e.g., review tour sheet, owner history, presentation details, etc). * Follow up face-to-face guest interaction with email, phone, or mail correspondence and facilitates use of Vacation Ownership Advisor. * Answer Owner and customer questions regarding product information, servicing issues, construction work, financing, maintenance, repairs, and appraisals. * Use, demonstrate, and/or coordinate virtual tour (eTour) software for guests.
