Job Description Position: Assistant General Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Purpose: To oversee three departments within the hotel and act as General Manager in the absence of the General Manager

Summary:
To analyze hotel financials, provide accurate and timely reports, generate new and repeat business in alignments with sales goals, maximize profits by practicing stringent cost controls to include labor costs through proper training and scheduling, guide the hotel in a positive direction understanding the diverse workforce and proactive recruitment of qualified candidates. Manager brand training; understand Human resources, and regulatory agency requirements. Must have an absolute commitment to provide the highest quality of service to our guests

Responsibilities

  • Willingness to accept the most effective role

  • Maintaining proper staffing levels within assigned departments

  • Must lead by example and role model the expected behaviors while projecting a sense of urgency in responding to guests needs

  • Ensures proper security of staff and guests

  • Development of departmental budgets

  • Controlling expenses

  • Must be able to work all shifts

  • P&L Compliance

  • Assist with sales calls

  • Achieving occupancy goals

  • Responsible for P&L, checkbook, and expense controls

  • Oversight of Housekeeping, F&B, and one other department as directed by the General Manager

  • Maintaining brand standards

  • Keeping employee training current with corporate and brand standards

  • Ensure complete guest satisfaction

  • Provide direction to subordinates as necessary

  • Ensure property standards are being maintained by identifying cleanliness and maintenance issues by proper use of inspection and maintenance request forms

  • Train and develop employees for promotional opportunities

  • Other duties as specified by the General Manager on an "as needed" basis

  • Must be enthusiastic and energetic with a passion for hospitality

  • Minimum of three years experience as an Operations Manager, Front Office Manager, or Department Manager in a full or select service hotel

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently

  • Proficiency in computers to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and other hotel operating systems

  • Proven record of success with Quality Assurance reviews and Guest Satisfaction

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Thorough understanding of total hotel operations

  • Lift up to thirty (30) pounds

  • Walking, bending, stretching, and excessive standing and/or sitting

  • Some exposure to chemicals

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License

  • Acceptable driving record & Car Insurance in good standing required

Job Summary: Responsible to increase corporate client base through consistent solicitations while establishing trust and rapport with clients to generate and boost revenues for the hotel. Services new and existing accounts to ensure repeat business. Responsibilities: * Willingness to accept the most effective role * Willingness to work evenings and weekends based on business demands * Utilize understanding of designated market segment or all markets to grow business * Cold Calls, Sales calls, Site Visits, Networking events are all required in this position * Plan and execute banquets and meetings to improve guest satisfaction and service * Understand and have knowledge of basic hotel operations outside of Food and Beverage * Ability to create contracts and banquet event orders for guests * Responsible for receiving payment from group and/or billing if necessary * Understand brand specific standards and its affect on guest satisfaction and brand initiated quality assurance standards * Utilize training while with clients to gain maximum revenue * Ensure that all of guests needs are met while they have an event/room block with hotel * Must respond to voice mail messages within four (4) hours, and outgoing voice mail greeting must state that calls will be returned within four (4) business hours * Any other duties as specified by the General Manager on an "as need" basis Requirements: * Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and car insurance in good standing * Outlook, Basic Computer Skills * Transportation for Sales Calls This company is an equal opportunity employer. frnch1 Marriott International Mount Laurel NJ
