Description:

The Wide Band Solutions Business Unit is looking for a positive, innovative FPGA Hardware Design System Engineer with a passion to solve customer problems, to join our extraordinary team! This position will be responsible for designing solutions within the Military and Government Market alongside an outstanding team using the latest, most advanced FPGAs available. The successful candidate will be a customer driven, team-oriented, self-starter eager to solve new problems and bring new solutions to market.

Additionally, the candidate will:

  • Champion and participate in continuous improvement initiatives for the organization to improve how we innovate in the future kaizen is our way of life!

  • Collaborate closely with [list groups/functions that this role will frequently collaborate with] to ensure the teams success to achieve organizational goals and priorities.

  • Explore and experiment with innovative methods of solving problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a multi-disciplinary design team to translate customer needs into a flexible solution architecture.

  • Perform detailed design work, including RTL design for FPGAs, component selection, schematic design, and more.

  • Provide risk assessments, suggest and execute feasibility investigations, and provide guidance on bringing new technology to market.

  • Participate in customer visits and technical conferences to help identify new technologies and propose new ideas to add to our technology and product development funnels

  • Provide input on project budget and capital equipment needs

  • Communicate timely/accurate project status and provide alternative problem resolution ideas

  • Suggest improvements for engineering design processes and engineering tools

  • Participate in the project planning. This requires knowledge of the customer domain, product technologies, engineering design team capability, and project estimation techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required

  • Experience with FPGA Design including Verilog/VHDL

  • Knowledge of both hardware and software technologies is required

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills

  • Openness to research and apply new industry tools and technologies

Preferred:

  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing

  • Experience with MATLAB, SPICE, and Python

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methods

The RF Design Engineer is a member of a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for development of probe cards for wafer sort of RF and high speed digital devices. This person will be a subject matter expert in RF, Power Integrity (PI) and Signal Integrity (SI) design, and responsible for ensuring that new products meet the defined performance objectives. He/she will understand the customer's technical need in detail, use this knowledge to help set target product specifications and performance expectations, and guide technical product development choices through simulation and measurement. He/she will participate in vendor selection and qualification for purchased products and services which impact electrical performance. Additionally, the person in this role will help with technical feasibility analysis through simulation when customer requests are not clearly inside our capability, as well as work on continuous improvement of the electrical performance of existing products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Owns electrical design choices and new product electrical performance. * Is a RF, SI and PI subject matter expert. * Ensures that developed products meet market need through simulation and measurement. * Participates in feasibility analysis of incoming product requests. * Defines improvements in our feasibility analysis process. * Works with Operations to ensure that products deemed feasible are manufacturable and testable. * Assists Marketing in defining electrical performance requirements for new product definitions. * Provides training and technical support to the Applications teams and customers as appropriate. * Participates in execution of continuous product improvements. * Contributes to development projects both individually and as a leader. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, a Master's degree preferred. * Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Applications, Development or Product Engineering. * Strong working knowledge of HFSS RF simulation, as well as SI and PI simulation tools. * Proficiency with RF instrumentation and measurements, VNA familiarity and on-wafer calibration a plus. * Working knowledge of IC and PCB layout tools. * Knowledge of on wafer semiconductor test a plus. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to lead others through influence. * Technical expertise and success mentoring junior team members. * Ability to manage projects- schedule and budget. * Demonstrated success working independently and in a team. * Willingness to travel up to 10% both domestically and internationally.
