Imagine yourself as a key player in Collins Aerospace's CNS Traffic Surveillance Group in Melbourne, Florida, where your expertise in FPGA engineering will drive the development and certification of cutting-edge Integrated Surveillance systems. In this role, you'll immerse yourself in the entire lifecycle of FPGA firmware design and verification, from defining requirements to achieving product certification. You'll work in a process-controlled environment, ensuring our products meet the highest industry standards. As part of our dynamic team, you'll collaborate across disciplines, manage project schedules, and report on task progress, all while applying advanced hardware engineering principles to support various Surveillance Product lines. Whether you're working on new designs or sustaining existing products, your contributions will be vital in enhancing the safety and efficiency of aerospace technology.

What You Will Do:

  • Development of Complex FPGA Designs:

  • Lead the design and development of sophisticated FPGA firmware for advanced aerospace applications.

  • Creation of FPGA Requirements and Validation Processes:

  • Define and establish comprehensive FPGA requirements and validation processes to ensure robust and reliable designs.

  • Coding, Simulation, and Testing of FPGA Designs:

  • Code, simulate, and rigorously test FPGA designs to verify functionality and performance.

  • Integration, Testing, and Debugging on Hardware Platforms:

  • Integrate, test, and debug FPGA designs on physical hardware platforms to ensure seamless operation.

  • Review of FPGA Design Artifacts:

  • Review and assess FPGA design artifacts generated by other team members to ensure quality and consistency.

What You Will Learn:

  • Gain expertise in the complete lifecycle of FPGA firmware design, verification, and certification for avionics applications.

  • Deepen your knowledge of Integrated Surveillance systems, including aerospace transponders and Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS).

  • Develop and verify firmware focused on software-defined radio technology.

  • Participate in specialized FPGA training and innovation programs to continuously enhance your technical skills.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, improving your ability to work across various engineering and professional disciplines.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

  • FPGA Development Experience

  • Aerospace Background

Qualification We Prefer:

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics ModelSim

  • Proficiency in VHDL is desired.

  • Experience working in Linux/Unix.

  • Excellent hands-on laboratory skills in testing and verifying FPGA designs in hardware, and familiarity with a wide range of test equipment.

  • Experience with aerospace certification of designs including familiarity with RTCA DO-254 is highly desired.

  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks with a quick learning ability.

  • Self-motivated and self-directed individual with little supervision necessary.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
