The Kansas City Plant is a U. S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration facility managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T). Our primary business is to manufacture sophisticated mechanical, electronic and engineered-material components for our nation's defense system. This Principal Engineer position will serve as a technical and strategic leader for Test Equipment Engineering. This position will focus on embedded system designs. The selected candidate for this role will help establish a strategic plan, identify technology gaps, develop a business plan and monitor/influence improvement efforts.
Summary of Duties: Principal Embedded System Designer
1.Leads, directs, influences and coordinates embedded design projects within Test Engineering. Responsibility for project deliverables, meeting delivery dates and developing technical specifications.
2.Provides mentoring for staff. Provide technical mentoring related to development of Embedded Solutions based on Xilinx FPGA using Xilinx Vivado design suite.
3.Champions initiatives to resolve critical processes and technological-related issues.
4.Drives the use of best business, project management, and product realization practices.
5.Stays current with relevant emerging technology and business trends. Uses business knowledge to evaluate and prioritize business opportunities based on economic and technical factors.
6.Advises and consults as technical expert to other technical and administrative personnel to drive and implement short and long-term projects.
7.Estimates manpower requirements and schedules work to meet completion dates and technical requirements.
8.Other responsibilities related to tester design and support of manufacturing.

YOU MUST HAVE
Must be a US citizen and capable of obtaining and maintaining a government security clearance due to contractual requirements
Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science from an ABET accredited Engineering program
Minimum of 8 years of experience developing embedded designs
Master's Degree preferred
Demonstrated experience working with Xilinx FPGA Platforms and Vivado Design Suite.
Demonstrated experience in project leadership, with an ability to apply advanced design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to highly complex engineering concepts and projects
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to provide technical guidance, consultative services, and innovative solutions
Demonstrated ability to architect new solutions to resolved customer demands
Experience designing automated test equipment
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Strategic and technical planning skills
Ability to establish strong team relationships in a matrix organization
