Teacher Role summary: Teachers at Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory of North America (AIUPNA) are responsible for creating a digitally-progressive and indigenous CULTURALLY-ROOTED learning environment where students can demonstrate thoughtful and ethical behaviour and ensure that the values and principles of the IB learner profile are at the heart of learning and relationships in the school.
Teachers will have the flexibility to teach across IBMYP and AIUPNA courses in one or more subject areas, where applicable. They will support the personal and academic development of students in their advisory group and contribute to extra-curricular and community and service activities. The following list serves to illustrate the scope and responsibilities of the post and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties.
You will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the development of this role as the practice develops, and the overall educational objectives of the practice change. Teachers must be prepared to teach in an urban inner-city context with working class, indigenous, migrant families and teachers. Subject teacher responsibilities:
Implement the charter of the AIUPNA Develop and implement culturally relevant curriculum designed to engage indigenous students and families Plan and teach lessons following the IB curriculum that differentiate for individual student needs and support students whose first language is not English. Use a wide range of technologies and creative teaching styles. Regularly contribute to curriculum planning and development including interdisciplinary units of work and the development of transdisciplinary skills.
Plan with colleagues to deliver effective team teaching when possible. Develop assessment tasks following IB guidelines and use a wide range of formative assessment tools. Supervise IBMYP personal projects and AIUPNA extended essays. Attend regular curriculum planning.
