Job Description

Foundry Operator

  • 1st shift

Title: Foundry Operator

Reports to: Foundry Supervisor

Location: Mentor

Shift: 1st

  • 12 hour shifts

Requirements:

  • Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/quantity

  • Able to work flexible hours

  • Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving

  • Have a strong sense of urgency with the ability to work independently.

Responsibility:

  • A Foundry Technician/Operator is responsible for setting up and casting molds to SOP, EP, and engineering specifications. Other responsibilities include stocking the correct supplies for the next shift, melting alloy to specific temperatures, and prepping molds.

Work Experience

  • Knowledge of vacuum furnace operation and the ability to perform simple furnace maintenance

Specific Duties:

  • Must be able to operate all vacuum furnaces - equiax, D.S. and single crystal - and be able to accurately record all necessary information.

  • Ram crucibles on all furnaces, change over on D.S. susceptors/coils and melt coils.

  • Perform all responsibilities of the foundry apprentice.

  • Must be able to perform all duties according to S.O.P.'s, Engineering Procedures and Special Lot Instructions.

  • Meet the specific requirements of the efficiency standards.

  • Ensure that the Foundry Department's high standard of housekeeping is met.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials.

  • Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and ensure vacation and other time off consistent with plant policies.

  • Organize work for smooth operations. Ensure that the required documentation is maintained.

  • Perform other duties as designated by the supervisor.

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers, and supervisors.

  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as required.

  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines
