Founding Product Engineer

Counsel’s mission is to provide patients 24/7 access to the world’s highest quality medical advice. Today, patients seek medical advice from unreliable online sources, chatbots, phone-based medical advice lines, or by messaging their primary care physician, but we believe these solutions are outdated and often ineffective.

At Counsel, we are building an AI-powered medical service that enables our clinicians to provide superhuman medical advice that is near-instant, highly personalized and always available. We believe in a future in which every person has a personalized, AI-enabled doctor always in their pocket.

About the role

We’re looking to hire an exceptionally talented, driven, and fast-moving engineer to join us in our mission to define the future of human+ AI collaborative care models.

As one of our early engineers, you will be given tremendous responsibility and ownership over our product, along with the opportunity to shape the future of our engineering organization. 

You will work collaboratively with our founder/CEO, Medical Director, and founding engineers. You will also have the opportunity to interface with prominent healthcare organizations across the country as we develop the future of AI in healthcare.

Our engineering work spans a wide range of disciplines, including full-stack web development, data infrastructure, mobile development, and AI / MLOps. We are looking for engineers who are versatile, self-driven, and intellectually curious. Our culture is fast-paced and ambitious, and we strive for every member of our team to be exceptional.

What You'll Be Working On

• Developing user-facing features to improve our AI-powered medical advising platform
• Scaling up backend infrastructure with a focus on stability and data privacy
• Building robust integrations with large enterprise clients, such as EMR integrations with healthcare providers, claims data structuring with health plans, and HIE records parsing
• Building data and AI pipelines to augment physician workflows

• You have hands-on experience building from the ground up in fast-paced high-growth environments. You’ve worked at early stage companies and/or built and shipped personal projects.
• You are a hard worker and derive energy from working alongside exceptional teammates.

Requirements

• Strong baseline technical experience, ideally having worked at startups or fast-moving companies for at least 3 years
• Proficient with our tech stack: React (Typescript), NextJs, React Native, Postgres (Supabase), HTML/CSS (Tailwind), AWS Infrastructure
• Familiarity with building at scale, both in serving hundreds of thousands of end-users as well as large enterprise clients.
• Interest in AI/ML
