JOB SUMMARY Under the general direction of Memorial Healthcare President and CEO and in coordination with the Foundation Board, the role of the Executive Director is to provide overall leadership and management of the Memorial Healthcare Foundation. The Executive Director is responsible and accountable for strategic and operational functions related to the implementation and execution of the long-term development and Implementation of philanthropic programs and services. The Executive Director also serves as the primary coordinator between Memorial Healthcare#s CEO, Foundation Board, and related Foundation committees. The Executive Director will strive for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the development of a culture of philanthropy and furthering the capabilities and benefits of Memorial Healthcare.# PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Acts in accordance with the Associate of Healthcare Philanthropy #Statement of Professional Standards and Conduct# and AFP #Standards of Professional Practice.# Serves as the primary representative of the Memorial Healthcare Foundation to promote philanthropy. Builds relationships with individuals and businesses to create advocates willing to serve the Memorial Healthcare Foundation (MHF) and Memorial Healthcare (MHC) with time or money. Creates community awareness about current initiatives at MHF and MHC and ways the community can further the Foundation#s and the Healthcare#s mission. Maintains high profile in the community through active involvement in community and social organizations to promote support for MHF. Directs planning, solicitation and follow-up of fundraising appeals in comprehensive development programs including annual, major, corporate and planned gifts. Self-initiates and coordinates these activities among respective development council committees. Presents appeals to individual philanthropists, former patients, donor groups, business institutions, estate executors and others. Oversees efforts to acquire new donors through tested practices. Identifies plans and oversees special events and activities for the purpose of promoting community support for MHF#s healthcare mission. Establishes and maintains appropriate recognition for donors. Promotes active community involvement through a strong Foundation Board and Development Council in an effort to provide perspective, guidance, and assistance with fundraising. Collaborates with the Foundation and hospital leadership to enhance programs, further objectives and effectively realize foundation and health system goals. Educates and involves Foundation volunteers through meetings and communication. Implements policies, procedures, plans, projects and programs of the Board. Facilitates thoughtful program of volunteer involvement. Fosters an environment to provide Foundation leaders information they need to work successfully on behalf of the Foundation. Demonstrates stewardship and accountability to the Board of Directors Responds quickly and accurately to request for information. Updates the Foundation Board regarding program activities at regular meetings. Carries out policies and procedures of the Foundation as adopted by the Foundation Board. Assures coordination of fund raising activities with needs and long-range plans of MHC. Develops and maintains ongoing strategic Plan for MHF. Encourages a strong commitment to customer service for all constituents. Manages Foundation affairs at the direction of the Memorial Healthcare CEO. Ensures appropriate donor and financial records are maintained. Actively builds consensus with Board members, Foundation volunteers, and hospital leadership by keeping them informed; involves appropriate individuals in decision making. Directs preparation of and operates with an annual budget submitted to the Memorial Healthcare CEO. Utilizes monetary and human resources in a cost-effective manner. Ensures proper acknowledgement of donations. Improves job performance of staff by assisting in professional growth. Coordinates the development and design of materials. Communicates the organizational vision and goals with volunteers, health system staff and the community to encourage ownership in achieving both the vision and the goals. Educates the public about Foundation initiatives, activities and donors. Educates the public about ways to give and to be involved. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior. Authorize the Volunteer Budget. Authorize payments against Volunteer Services Budget. DEPARTMENTAL AND ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES #Participates in regular continuing education opportunities to further develop skills and keep abreast of changes in patterns of philanthropy and related tax/governmental regulations. Other duties as assigned JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION Bachelor#s Degree from an accredited college required. Master#s Degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred. CFRE accreditation desired. EXPERIENCE Significant Experience in community-focused development activities and demonstrated experience in sales, marketing and business development. Governance Board relations experience helpful. Management experience preferred. Excellent leadership, organization, budgetary presentation, and relationship building skills; excellent communication skills (written, interpersonal and oral); excellent problem-solving ability; computer literacy.
