Department Overview:
CHRIS 180 Foster Care and Adoptions serves to provide short-term and permanent housing for children
in the custody of the Division of Family and Childrens Services (DFCS).
Position Description:
The Foster Care and Adoption Recruiter is responsible for the recruitment, training, and verification of
foster and adoptive parents in the Atlanta, GA area. The Foster Care and Adoption Recruiter must have
the ability to independently complete complex documents efficiently and assess strengths and
weaknesses of individual families, work as a member of the Foster Care and Adoptions Program and
work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parent applicants. The Foster Care and
Adoption Recruiter should be skilled/comfortable in making program presentations to small groups of
people to promote the program/provide training in a variety of settings, environments, and audiences.
Role and Responsibilities:

Additional Requirements
Identify recruitment needs and assist in developing a strategy to recruit prospective foster and
adoptive families.
Be competent in the CHRIS 180 approval process and requirements of foster families in addition
to being knowledgeable of state policy updates for the approval of foster families
Be knowledgeable of CHRIS 180 mission and programs
To coordinate the family retention effort for the agency by making regular contact with intake
families via phone, mail, and email to move them to the next step towards foster care or
adoption.
Write clear and descriptive documentation.
Maintain a respectful and trauma-informed approach with all families.
Work with the Foster Care and Adoption Program Director to schedule Pre-service classes at a
convenient time and location to meet the needs of potential parents.
Facilitate orientations with families interested in foster care and/or adoption
Perform diverse community outreach through general recruiting events as directed by
supervisor.
Familiarize themselves with all state regulations, federal regulations, and agency policies around
licensure for foster and adoptive homes.
Speak respectfully of CHRIS 180 with all professional interactions.
Promote community-based and strength-based services.
Seek to educate parents and other professionals about the CHRIS 180 values and principles.
Distribute a periodic calendar of upcoming training events.
Completing required paperwork as mandated by agencies, funders, county agencies, and State
regulations accurately and promptly.
Additional responsibilities will/may be assigned as appropriate.
Qualifications/Competencies:
Must be able to work flexible hours and be willing to receive required training of CHRIS 180.
Individuals must be at least 21 years old.
Individuals must have a bachelor's degree or higher and at least two years of experience working
with children and families in child welfare
IMPACT, NTDC certified preferred
Must be willing to work with LGBTQ children and families
Must be familiar with trauma-informed practices, modalities as well as working with people with
trauma histories and behaviors
Technical expertise that allows well-informed decisions, usage of available tools and resources,
and training to execute job responsibilities
Accountable for work being completed accurately and promptly as well as following up
as needed
Ability to collaborate with other staff to ensure best practices and sound decisions
Ability to communicate using an appropriate tone when corresponding verbally or written (as well as

Ability to adapt and adjust to the course and be open to new ideas
Ability to manage workload by having a clear understanding of task/project and set realistic
timelines and goals

Schedule:
This is a full-time position and typically works Monday Friday 8:30 am 5:30 pm but requires flexibility.
