How will you make an impact?

The Formulation Supervisor supervises operations employees (manufacturing, filling, granulation, compression/encapsulation, inspection and/or packaging staff) of high quality pharmaceutical products according to schedule, cost and quality standards, while maintaining employee engagement, safety performance, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory control and documentation procedures.

  • Provide leadership to assigned staff by performing the following: leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving organizational goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement, accountability, and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.

  • Supervise employees in day-to-day operations by spending at least 50% of available time interfacing with employees to ensure that every product unit is of high quality and exceeds all Company current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).

  • Ensure the production schedule is met by distributing workload in accordance with changing priorities.

  • Ensure production operations are properly controlled and regulatory compliance requirements are met by ensuring batch documentation is accurate, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are accurate, training is current, critical documentation templates are accurate, equipment is in good repair and within current calibration and high standards of housekeeping are maintained in all areas of responsibility.

  • Prepare performance reviews for all employees and evaluate personnel performance according to a performance management process. Provide feedback for continuous improvement. Hold staff accountable and apply a discipline process as required. Assist in hiring staff as needed. Maintain a work environment which fosters teamwork and supports the company's continuous improvement process.

  • Evaluate/solve operational problems by reviewing the area of concern, developing potential solutions, technically evaluating or testing the solutions, and preparing summary reports/recommendations for management.

  • Support the company's safety program to maximize safety awareness and provides a safe work environment.

  • Drive responsibility from each employee to work in a safe and responsible manner in order to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace. Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements.

How will you get here?

Education

BS/BA degree in Engineering or other STEM related program. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Four (4) years of technical and/or manufacturing experience.

  • One (1) to five (5) years of supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience in quality, technical and mechanical skills.

Equivalency: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge in cGMP's and FDA regulations

  • Strong decision-making skills

  • Technical and operational knowledge of aseptic processing operations

  • The ability to handle multiple ongoing activities and the ability to prioritize tasks

  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure; able to multi-task and results-oriented

  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management and the public, including tact to handle sensitive matters

  • Highly effective verbal and technical writing/communication skills. Able to create, review and revise SOP's, work instructions and manufacturing process as necessary

  • Demonstrate the ability to manage and lead professional staff in order to achieve goals and evaluate/resolve complex technical problems. Ability to motivate, energize and retain key staff by direct interactions with supervisors and staff. Lead by example; set the example for others to follow

This is a sterile filling Lead role and not to be confused with formulation. Carry out/lead the operational plan to meet the production schedule. Lead operation personnel to produce high quality pharmaceutical products according to schedule, cost and quality standards, while maintaining employee engagement, safety, performance, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory control and documentation procedures. The schedule for this role is a 12 hour shift (6p-6a) on a 2-2-3 schedule. A typical schedule would be work Monday and Tuesday, off Wednesday and Thursday, work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Then off Monday and Tuesday, work Wednesday and Thursday, and off on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. What will you do? * Ensure pharmaceutical products are manufactured in accordance to area SOPs * Lead line personnel in day to day operations to ensure that product meet high quality standards and exceed all the Company's current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). * Provide leadership to Operations by performing the following: developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, drive engagement, accountability, and create a climate where staff is motivated to do their best. * Ensure that production schedule is met by distributing workload in accordance with priorities. * Ensure production operations are properly controlled and regulatory compliance requirements are met. * Ensure operation tasks are completed in accordance with batch documentation requirements, equipment is in good repair/within calibration and housekeeping is maintained to high standards. * Support the company's safety program to maximize safety awareness and provide a safe work environment. Ensure each employee works in a safe and responsible manner in order to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace. Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements. * Complete assembly, disassembly and operation of area manufacturing equipment inside/outside the aseptic core: * Filler * Capper * Freeze dryer (Lyo) loading/Unloading * Trayloader * Vial Washer * SMEJA stopper processor * Equipment and component sterilizers * Filter integrity testers * Piping changeover's on the product delivery systems and CIP/SIP cycles (Filler/Stopper isolator) * Assist with initial/subsequent validation of filling equipment and processes. * General material handling * Maintain/clean classified areas. This includes but is not limited to the aseptic core. * Mechanical troubleshooting * Clean pre and post use change parts and prep for sterilization. * Participate in the On the Job (OJT) training program, area safety and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. * Become an area subject matter expert (SME). * Train new employees. * Perform other duties as assigned. How will you get here? Education * High school diploma or equivalent minimally required.
