This position is responsible for: Oversight of the preparation, distribution, inventory, record keeping and ordering of all patient formula under the supervision of a registered dietitian.

The Formula/Milk Technician Supervisor manages the day-to-day operations of the formula/milk processes. With Director of Clinical Nutrition, the Formula/Milk Supervisor establishes formula/milk team goals and tracks performance.

Essential Functions:

  • Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by associate's manager.

  • Follow the standards of formula preparation as described in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics "Infant and Pediatric Feedings: Guidelines for Preparation of Human Milk and Formula in Health Care Facilities".

  • Recognize age-related factors that may contribute to formula choices. Recognize and interpret instructions for changes in formula and milk orders.

  • Maintain aseptic technique during formula/milk preparation and delivery. Maintain sanitation in formula room area.

  • Inventory and maintain sufficient formula/milk/supplies stock. Track purchases and seek opportunities for effective management of formula/milk room resources.

    Communicate with formula representatives as needed to maintain stock. Oversee reimbursement of unusable formula.

  • Remain knowledgeable of HIPAA and OSHA safety regulations. With Director of Clinical Nutrition, participate in interviewing and hiring process of milk/formula room staff.

    Oversee training of new milk/formula technicians. Maintain competencies of formula/milk room staff.

  • With Director of Clinical Nutrition, establish and manage team performance goals for formula/milk technicians. Monitor day-to-day operations to assure adherence to regulatory requirements and Nemours policies and procedures. Monitor formula/milk errors via incident report system in MIDAS.

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) process and use CI tools to optimize management of formula/milk room processes

  • Supervise staff in completing daily duties of formula and human milk preparation and delivery, functioning in the role of formula/milk technician when necessary.

  • Support that concepts and philosophies of patient and family centered care. Participates in building a culture where all associates focus efforts on discovering and meeting patient needs and expectations in a manner that provides satisfaction for the family and enhances superior clinical and service outcomes. Adheres to Nemours Standards of Behavior.

Additional Requirements:

Associates degree in related field required

Bachelor's degree preferred
1-3 years of job related experience rquired

In this role you will utilize advanced clinical skills to coordinate and direct staff to insure the delivery of high quality patient care services for the Wilmington Primary Care patient population in an office practice setting. The nurse will provide high quality, safe, evidenced-based nursing care to achieve optimum outcomes both independently and as a valued team member. The nurse will follow the Nursing Process when providing patient care Administrative Duties * Assists Operations leadership with interviews, selection, and orients qualified clinical candidates * Collaborates with Operations leadership * Orients new clinical staff to clinical procedures * Support onboarding and continuing competency assessments of Nurses & Medical Assistants * Assures compliance with organizational, quality and safety regulatory requirements * Assists Medical leadership in developing and implementing performance improvement initiatives * Assist with Quarterly-check ins * Participates in following up on patient/family/physician concerns * Effectively address and intervenes, as indicated, to address and resolve difficult, stressful, or volatile patient situations * Performs chart audits or has designee assist with chart audits * Randomly shadows clinical caregivers to ensure appropriate care is delivered * Support the site by acting as the liaison for JCAHO, POCT, Tracer monitor for Safe Practice Behavior Monitoring (SPBM) tools & JCAHO Tracers * Support practice projects * Mentors and acts as a resource for registered nurses to encourage development of their interdisciplinary approach and delegation skills * Collaborates Operation supervisors to provide an organized and efficient office work flow in the practice * Support management of day to day operations of the registered nurse that include time keeping (PTO request and scheduling) coaching, training and adherence to guidelines, policies and procedures.
