We are looking for a Forklift Operator who will grow at our Operations Facility in Vance, AL.

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift or other equipment to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties.

Typical work may include but is not limited to:

  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.

  • Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.

  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.

  • Report quality variances.

  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.

  • Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.

  • Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.

  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment.

  • Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, put away, and load functions, as required.

  • Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.

  • On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.

  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.

  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.

  • Assist in physical inventories.

  • Ensure proper stock rotation.

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.

  • Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.

  • Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety.

  • Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.

  • Other duties as assigned

The perfect person will have:

  • Preferred education level is a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must have at least one year experience operating a forklift.

  • Must be able to do basic math functions such as adding, subtracting and dividing.

  • Must be able to read orders for picking and staging of products.

  • Must be able to complete the pre-shift inspection forms.

  • Must be able to pass the Scotts forklift exams and obtain and maintain a valid operator's license.

We are looking for a Skilled Operator - QA who will grow at our Operations Facility in Vance,AL. The Machine Operator will be working at one of Scotts production plants mechanically combining raw materials to produce our finished product. They must understand the mixing of active solution vessels, premixes & all raw material bases for products produced. Operate a computer controlled production system for multiple raw material ingredients that are processed in a mix room. Typical work may include but is not limited to : * Setup and operation of packaging equipment * Perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally during the production procedures * Troubleshoot and repair moderate machine breakdowns * Ability to train new associates on machine operation * Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift * Feed information akin to speed, shapes and sizes through the machine set up box * Perform random tests to ensure accuracy * Perform safety checks on every machine * Ensure that machines are producing quality products by managing periodic checks on output * Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times * Maintain accurate records of raw materials, samples & equipment operations. * Create and maintain activity logs * Solve daily operations problems with limited supervision. * Actively maintain good housekeeping standards in their assigned area * Complete daily job checklists & equipment checks/calibrations to maintain quality. * Responsible for monthly inventory of chemicals. * Operate a forklift to transport materials * All other duties as assigned The perfect person will have : * High School diploma or equivalent. * A minimum of three plus years of production plant experience is preferred * Troubleshoot and repair moderate machine breakdowns * Able to identify all materials used, detail oriented, follow safe practices and procedures, ability to read English and or follow directions * Able to work in a dusty environment, hot/cold/ rainy weather, lift 50 pounds, and be able to climb ladders and work on their feet for the entire day. * Willingness to work mandatory overtime including weekends and holidays.
