Position Summary

Freedom Distribution Center is a 308,000 sq ft frozen warehouse, responsible for distributing Nestl's industry leading frozen pizza brands such as DIGIORNO, JACKS, TOMBSTONE and CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN.

As a forklift operator your primary function is to maximize the selection and loading process of Nestl products by ensuring accurate orders, meeting set target rates per hour, and ensuring product integrity and quality standards are maintained throughout the loading process. The role is also responsible for using various inventory and tracking systems, as well as recognizing waste and adjusting execution accordingly.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely operate a powered industrial truck (forklift) during work stream processes of order selecting and loading. Complete and maintain internal forklift certification process.

  • Accurately and efficiently load finished product onto delivery trucks while also maintaining accurate quality inspection forms.

  • Prepare all required documentation to maintain the highest quality finished product for our customers

  • Maintain performance expectations with respect to key performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve distribution center operations

  • Must be able to recognize waste (wasted labor, time, moves, product, etc.) within the distribution center, adjust accordingly and aid with developing action plans to drive continues improvement.

  • Learn inventory and tracking systems, including: EWM (Wave Control, Replenishment, Stock Moves, Inventory adjustments) and SAP (Dock & Yard, Transportation Planning, D-note creation, etc.).

  • Communicate directly with co-workers on issues, openly share ideas with others, encourage performance in others, give feedback when needed, and train new employees when applicable. Effective communication with Workflow Coordinators and Operations Supervisors to maintain product flow and prevent distribution disruptions.

  • Conduct activities in a safe manner, follow corporate safety guidelines and requirements, use personal protective equipment and proactively address any unsafe conditions observed. Maintain housekeeping and safety compliance, inspection ready at all times

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work

  • Successful completion of post offer background checks and drug screen

  • Willing to work assigned schedule that may include weekends, Holidays and required over-time as specific to role

  • Must possess basic math and computer skills

  • Ability to work safely

  • Ability to read, write, understand and speak English

  • Experience using warehouse equipment preferred, such as forklift, rider pallet jacks, bomber, etc.

  • Ability to lift 40lbs repetitively. Ability to stand for 6-8 hours per shift.

  • 2 or more years of warehouse experience preferred; Freezer/refrigerated environment a plus

This position must be flexible where changing business needs are concerned and must possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective leader. The Supervisor's responsibilities encompass all aspects of the Customer Service and Warehouse functions and include daily interaction with external, as well as internal, customers. The Warehouse Supervisor must ensure the highest levels of safety, accuracy, quality, and efficiency while working within the prescribed Nestle culture and philosophies. You will be responsible for creating and promoting a safe and effective work environment that allows the warehouse, as well as all support teams (i.e., logistics, product supply, inventory control, customer service, etc.) to achieve success in delighting their customers and contributing to the improvement in NDSD's gross margin return on sales. This role requires proven leadership skills, experience in developing teams and individuals, continuous improvement of processes and, consistent achievement of performance results.
