In This Role:
You will be assisting the Shipping Supervisor, operating a forklift or clamp truck for loading, and manually stacking production into trailers to ensure effective space utilization, while always looking for process improvements.
Complete understanding of all safety rules and traffic patterns of the Warehouse department.
Properly pick, pack and stack a shipment safely, accurately, and in a timely manner using a lift truck or squeeze lift.
Properly repack any damaged product.
Store loads properly (double and triple stacking).
Load scrap materials to include cardboard, film and cores. Properly dispose of packing and shipping materials, using a lift truck.
Ship paperwork procedure and distribution to proper location. Familiarity with receiving process and paperwork distribution.
Operate stretch wrapper machine.
Coordinate tasks with Warehouse Supervisor and/or Lead regarding department needs.
Perform general housekeeping duties and maintains area for cleanliness. Example: Sweeps trailer prior to loading.
Properly receives inbound loads, including interplant shipments and corrugated materials.
Clear cobwebs from overhead structures, fans, etc. as assigned by the warehouse supervisor.
Operate a forklift or squeeze lift for loading trailers.
Perform product quality, safety and legality checks.
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following;
Demonstrate minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues.
Previous shipping/forklift experience preferred.
Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
