Description

Assist with professional forestry work in the field on a project basis or an assigned set of responsibilities under direct supervision of the Forester III or Deputy Director of Forestry. Follows instructions provided by supervisors, and carries out duties as assigned in order to gain knowledge and experience in the field of forestry.

Approximately three months, June 24, 2019 September 13, 2019

Examples of Duties

Assist the Forester III and/or Deputy Director in forestry related fieldwork.

Qualifications
1.Enrollment in a college-level forestry program.
2.Must be able and willing to work outside in inclement weather conditions, on varying levels of terrain, while carrying up to 10 pounds of equipment on a daily basis.
3.Must be able to read maps and use a compass.
4.Must be able to communicate effectively.
5.Must be able to conduct oneself in a professional and respectful manor.
6.Must possess a current valid State-issued driver's license.

Supplemental Information

Monday through Friday, eight hours per day.

Examples of Duties * Performs support tasks for financial functions such as banking, cashiering, and preparing and sending transmittals. * Enters data in the accounting system and other applications. * Retrieves and organizes documents for audits, program monitoring visits, and reports. * Provides backup for the processing and issuance of birth and death certificates. * Orders supplies and equipment and completes training registrations and travel reservations using established policies, procedures, and approval processes. * Negotiates new vendor agreements as directed to support approved purchases. * Organizes, maintains, archives, and destroys accounting and administrative records according to established retention schedules. * Provides logistical support such as coordinating motor pool functions, restocking supply rooms, communicating about and preparing materials for meetings, and conducting annual inventory. * Opens and distributes mail and receives packages using appropriate internal controls. * Monitors tickets and facilitates communication between Department staff and IT and facilities support to ensure smooth communication and timely resolution of problems and requests. * Prepares and publishes agendas, packets, and minutes for public meetings. * Prepares contracts and other documents for approval by the Board of County Commissioners. * Prepares and updates tracking, billing, and reporting documents. * Will be expected to perform public health emergency response duties as assigned and consisted with the training provided. * Will be expected to perform other duties as assigned consistent with job classification. Qualifications * A high school diploma or GED * Two (2) years' experience performing accounting tasks under general supervision including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, purchasing, and the use of an electronic general ledger, or * Accounting certificate plus one year of experience performing accounting tasks under general supervision. * Current WA State Driver's License Knowledge of * Principles of double-entry accounting and the accounting cycle * Internal controls * Data processing principles * The Washington State Budgeting, Accounting, and Reporting System (BARS) * The AFSCME collective bargaining agreement as it relates to seniority, leave accrual, and other benefits. Skilled in * Entering data with speed and accuracy * The use of Microsoft Outlook for electronic communications and scheduling * The use of Microsoft Word to create professional documents * The use of Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets and charts using formulas, references, and linking * The use of office equipment including 10-key calculator, copier, fax, machine, and multi-line telephone * Taking notes and creating meeting summaries and minutes. Ability to * Manage multiple priorities and prioritize tasks in order to provide timely responses to requests and deadlines. * Read, interpret, understand, and apply accounting standards and procedures, applicable Federal rules and regulations, and County policies and procedures. * Maintain confidentiality when dealing with client, contractor, and personnel matters. * Use computer applications relevant to the functions of the position proficiently. * Receive, process, and provide complex visual, verbal, and written information. * Communicate in a manner that demonstrates respect and professionalism.
