What we are looking for:
As the Forest Management Technician, you will assist the USFS and BLM in accomplishing their management goals including, but not limited to, timber sale planning, pre-commercial thinning, piling, prescribed burning, both piles and broadcast, and brushing roads. This position will also implement all-lands, cross-boundary work to achieve forest restoration on a landscape scale. In addition, this position will perform fire suppression duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Eighteen months of experience working in the field of natural resources and/or reforestation.
OR
Associate Degree in Forestry, Forest Engineering, Forest Recreation, Fire Protection, or a related natural resource field of study
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Note: Driver's License Check
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of Forestry practices, techniques, and methods.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with others.
Ability to operate basic computer programs.
Ability to read and interpret maps.
Ability to use basic forestry tools and instruments including handheld data recorders, GPS devices and chainsaws.
Ability to keep accurate and detailed records and reports.
Must be capable and willing to work on steep, rugged terrain in adverse weather conditions.
