Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is pleased to announce an opening for a Forensic Treatment Program Director for the Elgin Mental Health Center in Elgin, Illinois. The Elgin Mental Health Center is seeking to hire an administrative leader to plans, organize and administer ongoing quality assurance audits of program operations and clinical programming covering internal security procedures conformance to Department policy, legislative requirements, internal Program/Facility procedures and standards of the Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and Illinois Department of Public Health standards. The incumbent will evaluate quality of program operations and goal achievements and formulates recommendations for corrective action and improvements. The Elgin Mental Health Center provides treatment for release and restoration of the people we serve. Job Responsibilities
Serves as Forensic Treatment Program Director.
Serves as full-line supervisor.
Plans and directs specific and specialized development programs for professional and sub-professional staff dealing with the unique aspects of Forensic Program requirements and operations, such as assessment of fitness to stand trial, appropriateness for progressive liberties, relative treatment modalities and security requirements.
Administers activities of the Security Department.
Directs ongoing meetings with administrative and senior clinical personnel to define, plan and carry out treatment programs for the forensic patient population which meets the highest standards of clinical practice as well as the requirements of the Courts and Legislature.
Administers activities of the Court Services Department to verify compliance with court ordered appearances, treatment, and patient privileges within facility regulations.
Maintains program policy and procedural manual for the facility.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a health or human services organization.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related field.
Five (5) years of professional experience working with individuals with mental illness.
Two (2) years of professional experience providing services to a forensic patient population.
Five (5) years of professional experience developing, maintaining, and managing quality assurance methods and processes by determining objectives, setting specifications, and assessing results.
Five (5) years of professional supervisory experience, including assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff and approving time off.
Two (2) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.
Five (5) years of professional experience in a public or private organization maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism.
Conditions of Employment
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
In the event of an emergency requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays on site and/or availability by phone.
