  • * The forensic DNA analyst is responsible for performing DNA analysis and specifically delegated QA responsibilities from the Casework Supervisor. * Present expert forensic testimony in court on DNA methodology used to analyze evidence and obtain results * Participate in pretrial conferences and provide consultation to law enforcement and judicial officials on evidence collection, preservation methods and analysis results. * Verify the correct operation of scientific instruments and perform routine maintenance as needed. Prepare and verify reference materials and reagents according to established guidelines * Review current scientific literature. Study and validate new forensic analytical procedures and modify new and/or old procedures as necessary * Attend and participate in professional meetings and seminars to keep abreast of new technologies and methods in chemistry * Assist with training new laboratory staff in performing standardized laboratory tests. * Perform related responsibilities as required or assignedMinimum QualificationsThe Forensic DNA Analyst shall have at a minimum, a BS/BA degree in a biological, chemical, or forensic science, with undergraduate or graduate coursework in genetics, statistics, biochemistry, and molecular biology (molecular genetics or recombinant DNA technology). With a minimum of nine (9) cumulative semester hours or equivalent that cover the required subject areas. Before performing casework, the Forensic DNA Analyst will be required to successfully complete a training program that will include competency sample testing, written and oral examination, and a mock trial.Position InformationClass Code: B053CGrade: GS08FLSA Status: EXEMPTSalary Range: $45,010.00 - $65,265.00SummaryThe Forensic Scientist is responsible for the examination of evidence submitted by law enforcement personnel. After the examination has been completed, the results must be interpreted and a report prepared. Also, the analyst must be prepared to testify as an expert witness to their findings. This position is governed by state and federal laws agency/institution policy.FunctionsDesigns and conducts a series of analytical tests, including chemistry (Controlled Substances, Trace Evidence and Toxicology), biology (DNA, CODIS, and Serology), digital evidence analysis, latent print analysis, and firearms/toolmarks analysis on evidence submitted by law enforcement personnel. Documents evidence and prepares detailed reports of findings detailing analytical methods and techniques used to support conclusions for submission to legal authorities and courts of law. Testifies in court as an expert witness on the analysis of evidence and conclusions reached. Researches scientific literature and exchanges information with peers to stay current with latest scientific advances in the analysis of criminal evidence. Participates in the laboratory's proficiency testing program. Provides training, technical support, and consultation to the law enforcement officers/agencies, attorneys, and other public officials and citizens of the state. Conducts crime scene investigations, as requested by law enforcement agencies. The position will be based at our Arkadelphia, Arkansas R&amp;D facility. This role will support current business needs and develop solutions for liquid applied applications. The successful candidate will be able to develop both product/formulation as well as application engineering solutions for the market. Project assignments will be challenging, complex, and demanding in nature and require an independent, productive person that can execute multiple projects in parallel.</p><p>Position Responsibilities:</p><p>The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:</p><ul><li><p>Plan and conduct research for the development and commercialization of new technologies and product concepts that provide differentiated performance in the marketplace.</p></li><li><p>Establish fitness-for-use criteria for specific applications and reduce these to fundamental material characteristics using knowledge of structure-property-processing relationships.</p></li><li><p>Develop innovative formulation solutions that enable improved coating performance, reduced cost, and increased efficiency.</p></li><li><p>Develop system-based innovations, including innovating in the area of application and process equipment development.</p></li><li><p>Be a key contributor within cross-functional teams across R&amp;D, Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing to scale up quickly from the lab to commercial scale.</p></li><li><p>Provides technical support to Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Sales.</p></li><li><p>Maintain understanding and serve as a resource for internal and external customers on market-specific products, process technology, external technical community trends, and competitive intellectual property.</p></li><li><p>Produce timely project updates, develops presentations, and report out to internal and external stakeholders.</p></li></ul><p>Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>High School Diploma or GED equivalent</p></li><li><p>Bachelor's degree and/or 7+ years of experience in a laboratory environment (academic or industrial experience)</p></li><li><p>Must be a current U.S. resident and have the legal right to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.</p></li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li>Education, Experience, &amp; Skills:</li></ul><ul><li><p>Masters or Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 10+ years of experience in the manufacturing or formulation of coatings, paints, resins, polymers, or similar materials, or other relevant science disciplines</p></li><li><p>Minimum of 5 years of broad research experience in the formulation of industrial coatings</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding of reactive chemistries.
