Job Description Summary

Provides high profile quality professional accounting support services to the Travelers Claim Organizations countrywide on complex, high exposure, time element and fidelity insurance claims.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reconstruct, review and analyze insured accounting records and financial statements for claim professionals relative to large property claim insurance claims involving time element and fidelity losses ranging from $100,000 to $5,000,000.

  • Collaborates with claim professionals, insureds, attorneys, finance and outside accounting resources to quantify and evaluate damages or losses sustained.

  • Counsels field-based property insurance claim professionals on unique issues involved in particular time element and fidelity insurance claims.

  • Identifies skill development needs of field-based property insurance claim professionals.

  • Develops instructional tools to enhance the skills of property claim professionals in handling time element and fidelity insurance claims.

  • Designs, creates and presents training material to claim professionals through classroom and individual instruction.

  • Assists in the management and evaluation of outside accountant resources, catastrophe losses, peer training and customer service communication efforts.

  • Participates in CAT response, providing: resource coordination, calculation service, expert review, training, and orientation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors or masters degree in accounting is required.

  • A minimum of 4 years of public accounting and auditing experience.

  • Certified Public Accountant designation required.

  • Must hold an active/valid CPA license, and maintain a minimum of 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) annually.

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Computer system and application proficiency (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, Power Point).

  • Quantitative analysis:

  • Strong relationship management skills.

  • Strong communications skills

  • Requires travel averaging 10 to 15% of the time.

  • Must have the ability to work individually and as a team and manage own workload.

The Role The Claims Consultant is responsible for timely and professional assistance and support including analysis and advocacy of claims. This position acts as an advocate for clients and partners with the carriers and TPAs to focus on aggressive claim closure of aged claims. The claims consultant maintains positive relations with adjusters, clients, co-workers, claimants, producers, Account Executives, Account Managers, and carriers. This position works on large accounts/projects with national exposure. This is a remote position with minimal travel for training and meetings. Responsibilities: * Audit project files to project expected closure dates, review reserve adequacy, suggest alternative cost containment measures, MSA protocol and narcotic pharmacy review, develop and outline detailed strategic action plans for claim closure * Partner with claim adjusters, legal counsel and clients to implement action plans and pursue closure. * Communicate with various personnel regarding the ongoing claim process and assist field personnel with any follow-up issues. * Develop and grow relationships with clients, carriers and third party claims administrators. * Participate in quarterly claim strategy meetings. Partner with team & client to create/achieve strategic goals. * Assist on special team and/or individual projects/audits as needed. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree preferred * 8 years relevant experience preferably in insurance claims examination, investigation, adjudication or advocacy, including auto, general liability or worker's compensation injuries and claims. * Multi-jurisdictional experience is required, preferred is Northeast and Mid-Atlantic US. * Professional designations a plus. If no professional designation the ability/desire to obtain one after hire. * Experience with managed care preferred * Ability to work independently with minimal oversight. * Ability to communicate professionally in both written and spoken forms * Ability to problem solve & think outside the box * Ability to professionally resolve and disperse grievances * Significant computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite to include: Excel, Word and PowerPoint EOE, including disability/vets Willis Towers Watson Hartford CT
