JOB SUMMARY

SURTECO NA is seeking a Foreman at our facility in Agawam, MA. The Foreman is responsible for the color matching and printing process and is actively involved and responsible for the controlled actions of the entire crew on their shift. The foreman works to improve quality, reduce waste and increase efficiency. The foreman also maintains and controls a safe working environment as outlined by the company safety program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for managing and directing a production crew of up to 10 people. Responsibilities include, delegating, training, planning, assigning, directing, conducting performance evaluations, rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct and coordinate the production team to attain established goals.

  • Provide a safe working environment by following and enforcing all safety guidelines and procedures.

  • Solid understanding of the quality parameters, process and enforcement of standards.

  • Measure, review and initiate process improvements.

  • Strong and consistent color matching and press management.

  • Direct and manage employee training and processes.

  • Work with employees to ensure training is complete and standards are followed.

  • Ability to work under tight schedules, drive projects and improvements.

  • Maintain a positive, hands-on attitude and strong communication skills.

  • Follow the instruction and direction from managers and transfer it to employees.

  • Communicate necessary information to other departments as needed.

  • Recognize your role as part of the quality efforts of SURTECO NA.

  • Lead and instruct team on the quality objectives and how to achieve them.

  • Carry out quality roles and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Follow and enforce established policies and procedures in support of quality efforts.

  • Communicate ideas to leadership for improvement in the manufacturing process.

  • Communicate to leadership positive and/or negative outcomes of quality and detect any barriers preventing success.

  • Support quality efforts via actions and attitudes, including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with Quality initiatives and findings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; or

2 years of related experience and/or training; or

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong supervisory, analytical, and mechanical skills are required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to competently use computer systems to record and report information critical to managing our inventories and associated costs. Basic computer skills on PC platforms, word processing, applicable software packages, Microsoft Excel and office equipment. Ability to competently navigate the timekeeping and time off request applications.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Individual must have the ability to interpret situations and clearly communicate as needed. Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group settings from managers, employees and/or customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as measurements and volumes, for basic mathematical situations and problems. Ability to take precise measurements and ensure proper customer specs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to understand and execute instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must possess a solid background in quality interpretation as product is produced on the Press. Ability to make quick decisions on roll quality for approval to customer or pend for inspection.

Maintain a valid Driver's License

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Consistent color matching ability is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

The noise level in the work environment is moderate. There is limited exposure to physical risk.
