Ability to supervise, monitor, evaluate and discipline assigned staff members.
Demonstrate a willingness to work overtime if necessary to ensure job requirements are satisfied and in the event emergency situations arise.
Ability to communicate with personnel at all levels within the school district.
Ability to communicate with vendors of custodial supplies and equipment.
Ability to communicate, delegate and work with co-workers in a cooperative manner.
Ability and willingness to work any shift.
FUNCTION: Under the direct supervision of the Custodial Coordinator. Work with Head Custodian, Day Lead Custodian and custodians in a supervisory capacity. Cooperate with Principals, Campus Coordinators and maintenance staff. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
Responsible for inventory control and the maintenance of custodial equipment.
Responsible for working with all custodial staff as required to ensure the implementation of work schedules.
Coordinate with all staff to ensure proper implementation of master calendar and scheduling for rentals and special events.
Responsible for inspecting school buildings to assess the quality of custodial care to ensure standards have been met.
Coordinate with principals on matters pertaining to custodians.
Responsible for screening, interviewing, recommending selection, and training of all assigned custodial staff.
Conform to all Board Policies and Procedures, Administrative directives, and Departmental Rules and Regulations and ensure all custodial staff adhere to same.
Responsible for ensuring all custodial staff are being treated equally and that employee rights are not being violated.
Responsible for ensuring preventive maintenance programs are being adhered to.
Evaluate custodial staff in conjunction with Custodial Coordinator.
Responsible for all verbal and written documentation supporting recommendations for disciplinary action pertaining to custodial staff.
Provide performance base management standards of custodial functions relating to staffing requirements, equipment requirements, custodial supplies, budget formulation and etc.
Responsible for ensuring all facilities adhere to work safety requirements.
Ensure facilities are protected, in cooperation with the head custodian and other maintenance staff to the maximum extent possible in the event of severe weather such as hurricanes, torrential rains and freeze conditions.
Provide custodial in-service for all custodial staff on new products, procedures, equipment and safety programs.
Ensure the cleanliness of the building and grounds in all respects.
Advise the Principal( Campus Coordinator), Custodial Coordinator and custodial staff at all times of repair and maintenance action required
Arrange for physical requirements for school rental, dances and other activities.
Maintain preventive maintenance logs and other records as required.
Communicate with Principal (Campus Coordinator) to review monthly/weekly programs requiring custodial support.
Must be able to operate district vehicle in the performance of duties.
Performs other job related duties as may be required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directs the activities of district custodial staff in accordance with the District's policies and all applicable laws.
Responsibilities include: Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ensures that employee appraisals are done in accordance with District policies and in a timely manner.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Ability to receive information and/or instruction from internal/external customers through spoken expression.
Ability to manipulate tools/equipment/keyboards.
Ability to convey information and/or instruction to internal/external customers through spoken expression.
Ability to perform work while standing and/or walking for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours a day.
Ability to see detailed information, naturally or with correction
Ability to maintain control under stress.
Frequent District-wide and occasional statewide travel
Prolonged and irregular hours, on call 24 hours a day.
Lifting (heavy, 45 lbs. or over), carrying (heavy, 45 lbs, or over), stooping, walking, climbing (stairs, ladders, scaffold, ramps), balancing, crouching, kneeling, pulling, crawling, working in confined areas, pushing, reaching, repetitive hand motions, visual acuity, driving (car, truck, bus).
Outside temperature extremes, noises, vibrating, slippery surfaces, sunlight, works around moving objects, kneeling, chemical exposure (asbestos, fumes, vapors, gases, dusts, smoke, etc.). Inside humidity extremes, low or intense illumination, microwaves, uneven surfaces, works with hands in water, works around machinery with moving parts, works alone, biological exposure (insects, mold, fungi, bacteria, animals, plants, etc.)
